Will bards ever "sing" and play instruments

I was disappointed when doing the bard quests to find all my new abilities except one were stupid songs I'd never want to use. I'm a DD player, not a support player and I won't be your refresh bitch, nor are you having my TP. I don't think I'll ever be using BRD in a party setting. It's a shame SE has killed ranged DD. It's not even good solo since you need the distance to combo.

You do realize that Se has stated each class will have more tha one job later right? They could still very easily turn this into a different DD job later.

Ah this was the thread I was looking for.. Accidently posted what I wanted to say in a thread in the archer/bard section.

Please take a look at the 2.0 bard artwork:

Notice on the first slide we see the bard an his songbow in the first image released of jobs.

Now look at the fourth slide where a bard is holding a horn/flute type instrument... in his left hand.

It seems to me that we may be get instruments later as a subweapon catagory.

EDIT:

I'd like to add that instruments would be a great addition. The songbow I feel is just going to be a musically themed weapon. I think that instruments may have a similar effect to XI's instruments that will allow 1 bard to stack more than 1 song. This would be great because when more jobs come out there will be less bards appearing in partys.

On another note... (no pun intended) Instead of pushing to play songs on your abilities, why not just leave that as is
and ask for a composer feature in your inn room

and a /recital emote for reciting your set composition.

The composer feature could be unlocked when people finish bard quests line in full, and its never too late to put in. (or maybe by crafting a grand piano for your room)

The Bard NPC in Tranquil has an animation for playing the harp already... I'm just assuming we don't have it yet because there aren't any Bowharps in the game yet.

Bard should have been a future class. They could have given Archer another support job, one that better fits it.

1) The songs are great and make you even more needed in a group.
2) No your not a DD player because if you cannot do more damage on your bard then your archer then your doing it wrong.
3) You wont be able to use bard in a party setting because you probably don't get parties with this type of attitude.
4) Killed ranged DD? You sir don't know how to use your class efficiently.
5) Can't solo? My butt! Do you know what binding is? hmm, let's see maybe you build up tp. Run back pull off a bind combo. Pull off a stun combo. Pull off a blood letter combo. Oh wait it's dead...

You need to understand, it's much easier to complain about how a class sucks then to learn how to actually play it.
