Lost items in storeroom of apartment

So I recently transferred from Mateus to Gilgamesh. I got rid of my apartment after storing all of my items in the storeroom thinking it worked like and inventory of your retainer. Then transferred over to Gilgamesh joined a guild and bought an apartment in the guild housing only to find EVERYTHING gone.
I've played this game since 1.0 and have seasonal items and things that cost millions of gil and years of collection to get. Now i checked all the requirements of transferring and the warning that items left in your house might not transfer. To me that meant items placed in your house because obviously a house of a different size could mess things up and I saw no other indication otherwise that items in your storeroom were different. I of course brought this up with GM support services who gave me the big fat "sorry we cant help you", even though I'm quite sure they could were they inclined. They gave me a link to a site about housing where again this issue was not touched on.
I don't think I'm crazy in thinking this is a mistake people could easily make in thinking it wouldn't be hard to just have storeroom items be connected to your character instead of your house. I have lost everything and I don't even know what to do about it.

Hasn't this happened to anyone else? I hope they do something about this cuz the mil i got for transferring doesn't even begin to cover it. Let me know what you guys think. Am I being unreasonable?

I think personal house, guild house, aparment and personal room in guild house have different storage...
You probably need to buy another aparment to get what you leave there

I really hate to say this OP but it sounds really like the misunderstanding was on your part that said I dont see why they cannot restore the items to you.

Unfortunately you misinterpreted the warnings. Storage is tied to each individual house, apartment and fc room and when they are destroyed, so too is the storage and its contents. Anything you want to take with you has to be in your personal inventory or on your retainers.

Are you being unreasonable to expect to get your items back? Yes. You shouldn't have made the assumption that storage is tied to your character and not to your house/room/apt. That you have to be in the housing unit the storage is tied to in order to access it should been a big tip off (compared to retainers that you can access from multiple locations).

You made a mistake and had to pay the consequences. Chalk it up as a learning experience and move on instead of trying to push the blame and responsibility elsewhere..

Yah, its actually pretty clear, I'm not sure why you would assume storage was treated differently. It sucks I get it, but there isn't anything they can or should do.

Maybe not crazy, but assuming something is so just because "it wouldn't be hard" to do is just silly. Especially when the game specifically tells you otherwise... Honestly, I don't think that this is a mistake most people would easily make.

You have to empty the apartment/house but not actually vacate it, as far as I know. That's how I did it. Got reimbursed for the price of the apartment. But I also moved from a congested world to a preferred world so I don't know if there were different circumstances for you, since Mateus is a Standard world and Gilgamesh is a Congested world.

I just tested it by using an Alt character to buy an Apartment, I then placed an item in the room and also an item in the storage, and i then went to Vacate and get presented with this Warning:

Tbf, OP didn't vacate, opting to transfer while still owning in order to receive the reimbursement gil. But, still comes down to a misunderstanding of the system.

First off Jojoya I dont need ya rudeness, i wasn't blaming anyone just trying to understand my situation.Obviously there was a misunderstanding on my part, but my issue is only that it is not clearly stated that anything left in the storeroom would also be relinquished. They are quite clear that items left placed in the home would be lost. I just think the language is a bit confusing when most of the time they are quite clear on what they mean, I have switched worlds before, but that was before there was housing storage. I also didn't think it would be hard to get my items back,(I explained my situation) but GM simply said "it was beyond the scope of their work" which I take to mean that they could, they just don't want to.
I checked resident caretaker and no luck. I'm sure this doesn't happen often, but I know it has happened to others. I am not blaming the gms for my mistake however i think there should maybe be some changes so its clearly communicated and that mistake isn't repeated, cuuuzz issa big deal. Imagine losing everything on an honest mistake and gm straight up says they wont help you. There are plenty of times you can admit to doing something stupid and a company would be more than happy to help you, especially after you've been giving them money for the past 6 years. All I'm asking is for a little loyalty returned after alot of loyalty given. This is legit the first time I've posted and had any issues with this game.
