New housing sector - will fc have priority?

No this wont happen all the mansions are going to be bought out on day one by that Omnicrafter that you helped make rich by blowing all your gil on glamour items. Now that that's out of the way... I gotta admit that would be cool and all but FCs arent all big what about those small FCs you're saying they need mansions despite not having more than five or six members? I think the free for all thing will be the likely outcome.

FCs were actually granted first pick when the new wards were added in the middle StB. Around 4.2 I believe? This was the only way I was able to manage a house on Balmung. XD They themselves have personaly said they'd prefer all FCs to have house prior to them being personal.

Based on the new data we collected from all Worlds, we will be adding a number of plots based on the demand we saw.

We're sure there will be various comments regarding the current restriction on purchasing an estate for personal use; however, we would like to give opportunities to free companies without an estate to purchase first. When new plots are added in the future, we’re planning to apply the same measures. Once enough plots have been distributed to free companies, we will remove the restriction on purchasing an estate for personal use.

The number of active free companies that do not own an estate was taken into consideration when deciding how many plots to add; therefore, we believe there shouldn’t be a situation where there wouldn’t be any plots available for personal use once the restrictions are lifted.

Players will be permitted to own only one private and one free company estate per World per service account. Please note that if you currently own several plots, you will not lose those plots. This restriction will be applied per World, so owning a plot in one World will not affect the purchase on another World. Owning an apartment won’t be considered as owning an estate, so you may purchase without any concerns.

Oh yeah I vaguely remember that it was back when they added more wards and initiated the one house per person rule because people were losing thier minds over housing and others were selling thier plots for millions upon millions of gil etc etc. comepletely forgot FCs got dibbs.

It would be amazing if Square Enix could give to the free company some time to move out or to buy an house in the new sector, before allowing people to buy them as personnal house.

I personnaly think that an FC deserve more a mansion than a single player, afterall a fc house affect many players, and a personnal house just one or few person. I have the funds to buy a mansion for myself, but I prefer a medium house as a personnal house, but I see a lot of FC who have trouble to get an house because every plots, even the small one, are taken.

I don't remember when Shirogane came out if they gave time to fc first? I was OK in my sector, didn't feel the need to move out (I don,t really like Shirogane) and my FC at that time already had a large one, so it was something I was not really looking at.

I wouldn't say it's a case of one deserves it over the other, for me housing should have always been FC only and instanced (and upgradable) apartments for player use. Speaking as someone who has a medium house and looking to nab a large, if they changed it now going forward, I'd probably be okay with this so long as I could transfer my house size and furniture layout into said apartment.

Hypocritical maybe, but I feel there are quite a lot of genuine FC's who are sadly missing out on airship/submarines/gardening.

And at least half the larges were claimed by people who relocated. They cant seem to turn off transfers for individuals and leave them open for FC's.

Difference is if they did that now people would have no plots to relocate. So what will happen instead is people making temporary fc's to lock a house and then either sell it for relocation later or buy a small goblet when they get the chance and then relocate to it themselves.
Point is, we can't have nice things with a system like this.

Pretty much everyone without a large would be camping outside housing wards for larges, and people with smalls would settle for relocation for mediums.

Then you'd get everyone without one competing for smalls that opened up in other housing wards.

When you make a limited resource thats required for certain things (crossbreeding and ships/subs), people are going to do everything they can to secure those spots.

I got lucky with both my personal large and alt FC large, but most people dont have that kind of fortune.




For a cost analysis, if you crossbreed either a self-sustaining Glazenut, Jute or Onion setup, a large house pays for itself in under a year JUST by those specific seeds. Theres no reason not to invest if you log in once or twice a day.

If you add in alt FC's and Kamacite / Otters / boules, you can end up recouping your losses significanty faster.

My alt FC has made back 14 mil gil of the ~52 (house + ship and sub parts) it cost in the last 5 weeks, as an example, through flowers, crossbreeding and voyages.

Wait, are you saying that if someone owns a small house now, they can then later "relocate" to a "medium/large" and leave a "Small" empty lot behind?

That is correct. If you own a house of any kind, you can instantly relocate (bypassing the random timer) to any available house. The old house would then open up, but will have the timer started for when it can be repurchased.
