Specifically, do we know if trusts can be used with partial parties? For example will I be able to queue with a friend and three trusts?

I believe its solo only.
And if you did queue with a friend it would be you, your friend, and 2 trusts not 3.
If your friend is nervous about healing they can still use trusts, its not just for dps.
And just like Amy said in the live letter, its good for those that are nervous about tanking or healing. Its a safe environment where you can practice tanking/healing without any real pressure.
If they are nervous about healing groups, I recommend Scholar. In the event they fail to heal in time, the pet will probably throw out a heal of its own.
The alternatives are doing it as a DPS the first time round, setting up a preformed in Party Finder or practicing the healing on the trusts in each dungeon.
Yeah, I was hoping to be able to do it together as well. It would have been fun and Good way to leisurely enjoy the new dungeons. Ah well least it will be useful for her to practice. She's a great player just needs more confidence. So either way trusts should help!
Trusts will be a great way to experience new dungeons, or try out new roles without inconveniencing others.
Currently, I won't run a new dungeon (Or one I haven't done in weeks) until I've watched the videos again.
In 5.0, I'll add a couple trust runs as well before I group up.
I don't understand trusts. How do they differ from the Grand Company teams? I get that you can't choose a Scion's job, but doesn't that just make them worse then the Grand Company teams?
Only thing I recall was their AI is improved to actively dodge mechanics but they are also tailored to the Mainstory Quests (unless they have said other wise) for ShB story. Where as GC is just more dungeons with less skilled AI.
Alisaie in a nutshell.
