Are you aware that the WoW system requires you to access a specific NPC in a specific city to actually apply the gear appearance, so the features are not exactly "available anywhere"?

Compare that with prisms, which you can get 99 of on the MB for about 20k when it's a seller's market.
Can even get prisms for GC seals, so don't need to drop a penny of gil.

Also, there's the whole having to spend several hundred gold for transmog at only specific locations in the world - can only use the system via certain NPCs, after all. The appearance log can be used and previewed anywhere, which is fantastic - the actual glamouring of gear in that game is a restrictive mess (gear below greens, with rare exceptions, cannot be used last I checked) where they even saw fit to move hiding your helm as an option from the menu (accessible anywhere) to the transmog NPC only...and it has to be redone when you get a new helm/hat. So yeah, you're right...the actual system that game uses is not good overall.

Tracking all the appearances you've unlocked? Fantastic. Making you do something we do with a click of a button on the character panel anywhere we choose (hiding your head gear) at only one of a few specific locations? Asinine.

If this game is going to overhaul the glamour system into a better option, it really needs to look at something GW2, not WoW.

It appears I was misinformed then..my apologies.

It sure would be swell if we could talk about FFXIV on the FFXIV forums instead of every thread ending in some obsolete WoW comparison.

Transmog is saved per piece and nothing else. However, the way WoW is setup each specialization benefit more from certain stats than others so having a full set of gear for each one is normal. But no, WoW don't have anything similar to FF14 "glamour plates".
Didn't know that about the costs. I stopped playing BfA pretty early and they weren't quite that extreme when I was playing. That being said I'm 1 bazillion% sure that transmog is linked to your spec. My main did not have 3 complete sets of gear. It had 1 set of gear with 3 different transmogs that changed automatically upon switching specs. Please consider you may be remembering this incorrectly.

The comparison is apt here because we're talking about different implementations of similar systems. No game exists in a vacuum and pretending WoW doesn't exist or doesn't matter does not make it so.
