Would be interesting to have Crystal Braves. I think that might be possible with some late ARR dungeons.
Of course, what party couldn't use Hoary Boulder? You can never go wrong with Hoary.

If we get Class/Job characters as Trusts once it expands, I hope we get at least 1 for each Class Storyline and Job Storyline.
This is going to have to be a Post-3.0 recruitment though due to what happened to the Crystal Brave in the 2.X storyline.
I'll eat my hat if they aren't thinking first and foremost about Castrum Meridium and the Praetorium.
So ... Team Cid, I guess.
There's only one NPC trust I'd want to bring for Heavensward dungeons.

Oh my goodness yes.
He's such a bizarre one-shot character and I feel sure he was intended for a cancelled Moogle Post: Heavensward Edition plotline...
Extra points if you get interactions between him and Estinien.
It will be interesting what his unique skills maybe since each trust companion have their own little special ability such as Minfilia has some Attack Holy Magic skills and Thancred still has some of his old Rogue talents to skip boss mechanics.
I expect a lot of Butt puns and a Butt Slam to replace his DRG jump attack.
Didn't they actually say they have no plans to go back and make Trusts work with older content because they'd have to manually create new AI to deal with every mechanic in every dungeon?
plans most likely changed since last time they said that as they did say they understand the need for it in 2.0 to 4.X contents to aid newer players to progress through the MSQ as the game gets older and introduce more content.
not all new players are willing to chug extra cash to skip all the way up to current content and not all new players will play Tank and Healers for the quick or instant queue time.

I only heard about that during all the interviews that came out after the most recent thing, so unless more VERY RECENT news came out. They probably won't be going back for that...

Perhaps you need to read the context of the sentence you quoted - here is the entire section on trusts:
They understand that it would be better to have trusts available, but that is not the same thing as saying that they are doing it.
- Trusts can be used in all of the "main story related instanced dungeons" in 5.0.
- There are no plans on allowing trusts to be available in other content. Even if they were to expand the trusts, they would be limited to instanced dungeons (note: which means they might make them available in instanced dungeons that aren't main story related in the future, but trusts won't be available in content such as raids and trials)
- They aren't thinking about allowing players to summon trusts in public areas. He said Y'shtola has her own adventures, so she can't be with you all the time.
- They still haven't decided if they want to expand trusts so they are available in dungeons on the source (previous areas).
- To avoid new players from leaving the game, they understand that it's obviously better for trusts to be available in all 2.0 dungeons.
