There are certain things FFXIV does right which is a really strong chain to me. The visual art this game has to offer is outstanding and very rare amongst the MMORPG titles of the past two decades.
When I quitted in 2015, I never forgot about this game. It was impossible, even if I wanted. I kept lurking on the forums, and I remember even how much I hated the huge HEAVENSWARD poster in our local EB Games when I walked past.
I even set up my Lalafell as wallpaper from the images I left. To this day I have 38 GByte of 1080p/60fps material from early 2014 on my disk. How many times I came back to that folder and watched the old stuff?
But something was not right to me, I found this game not suiting my needs. And I became more and more irritated and thought it is a chore to play...
Now, 5 years later, I know I was wrong. I got it all here.
Do you know the song "Hele On to Kaua'i" by the famous "Israel Kamakawiwo'ole"? This 1995 song is basically exactly what my feel towards this game is. Listen to it's lyrics, and you understand why I am happy to be a part of the living community and paying customers to keep this awesome product alive.
* The customer support and GameMasters are actually working (for resetting my password, they helped me swiftly around the fivethousand different Square Enix websites),
* The engine of this game runs smooth (I remember it on max details on my GTX670 in 1080p, now it's 1440p on a GTX1080/144fps which is a bit too much for it in some parts, well, G-Sync helps a lot in that case^^)
I was just sick of GW2's retarded problems. Blaming "It's your Ryzen" because of their badly coded software, eh, yeah. Everything's got a massive boost except for GW2. Blame my system, not that it' s using a 2005's engine...
* The community - Remember this thread? That's a thing of the past. The people in the dungeons are 99.8% extremely kind, and the other 0.2% are hopeless cases anyways. And I also try be like that when others are in need. Got in as replacement once, and these guys were..."special", but I have experienced so much kindness that I spent my time in Aurum Vale for several wipes until they got it down and we did it.
You know how many people I had good chats with by just walking up and poking them?
In what game do you have this warmth?
* The Lalafell
Evil midgets with pointy ears. 'nuff said.
* Red Mage
Yes, that's the reason why I am here, that's the reason what I am looking for when the customers at work are absolutely scummy and ruin my day. That's what I look for after a shower, with a cold drink/warm chocolate next to me.
I bought the expansions and gametime worth about 80€ just because I saw X'rhun Tia in a random Google image. This is the typical Fantasy/Medieval Final Fantasy flair that caught me, that sucked me in! I can't put my finger on it, but it's there! This special "something" this game brings..!
I do not like the regular FF parts - except Tactics and XIV. Fishing me as non-target group out of the customer pool means they do a lot right in the audio-visual department like that!
I have never seen or played a profession in any video game so far that is visually so appealing, stylish, beautiful, noble and regal while the whole duellist theme makes it savage and deadly at the same time. To be a "proper" mage and a blade-wielding melee fighter at the same time; casting massive explosions, finishing people off with rapier blows in close quarters, making huge magical swords appear (Fleche, Contre Sixte), dashing in and backflip out of melee combat and healing your allies in-between.
I can not think of anything better to be a Plainsfolk Lalafell Red Mage. It makes me concentrate on the game, to enjoy it to the fullest with all senses. I am not slumped in my recliner and bored, I am on the edge. This is the absolute killer feature to me that no other game can remotely offer.
I feel like being amongst a cool and great game that we will talk about with passion in decades, just like the Amiga/C64 people do now when recalling their past!
And you guys, you are one of the reasons!
You might not see it (anymore), but I can assure you - it is like that!
Sincerely,
