It's interesting... they could use tropical names because of where they live, but they might also use Icelandic names since that's where their names were derived from in FFXII as well as their accent was Icelandic. It's mostly likely so that people won't steal a lot of names before the races even come out. It'll be interesting what real world parallel they use for Viera considering they're from a tropical region. I'm hoping they use what they used in FFXII which was mostly consonants.
Yeah much like Highlanders have (Fantasy)Viking styled names but Ottoman styled clothing. FFXIV likes to grab from many sources for their races.
According to the FF Wiki the word Viera is Slovakian... So, Slavic names?
And yea, for Hrothgar, based on the name Gunnhildr, it would be old Norse / Germanic.
The new Viera NPC they introduced had a name that was four letters long... I can't remember if any other Viera characters aside from Fran had 4-letter names as well but maybe that's a link?
Well, Fran's sisters' names were Jote and Mjrn. There were also the two sisters around Rabanastre named Ktjn and Krjn, too. Those were the viera coming from Eruyt village, which would be like FFXIV's rava.
However, the feol in Revenant Wings had different names, like Mydia.
All the named ones from XII:
Ktjn
Mjrn
Krjn
Jote
Nera
Shara from TA sort of counts if you take the "Sh" as it's own sound, and Ritz may be hume, but her name counts. TA2... is weirder.
So it does seem like the first name is a four letter name. I’m curious to what the last name will be like.
"I'macute Bunny" better follow the Viera naming conventions or I dunno what I'll do. I'm pretty set on this new name.
