Feeling punished for having alts...

Feels like the main reason to alt would be to socialize in a new way. For example, to have a completely different character for roleplay purposes that could still easily get into, for example, Kugane, with little/low effort.

Unfortunately, SE might feel this could cut into Boost (and possibly Fantasia) profits. You'd be basically getting 7 or whatever [story-free boosted] equivalents that you can switch to at will, and go anywhere your "main" had unlocked.

That being said, OP still has valid points about the inability of shared account, which is a bit different than "just socializing/roleplaying". Why indeed are your other characters treated like completely alien entities instead of being part of the same shared-resources family o.O

It's your account, which you've paid for to unlock all those slots, so why indeed is the sharing of the data so restricted? The little things like titles would suddenly be absent when you switched to someone else.

I don't alt in this game, but I've played a bunch of GW2, so I can definitely feel OP's pain.

At least it doesn't matter if some of you don't understand why other people like playing alts. Just accept it. And the game is not very alt-friendly. Point. A lot of players are using tricks to share things. But not everyone has such possibilitys. That's a little bit unfair, don't you think so?

My main is at the moment a male Elezen. I burned lots of money in fantasia over time with my main... xD
And I really like my character! But I also really wanna play a Lalafell. So at least I created a Lalafell alt. And I like my alt very much, too. Totally different game feeling, when playing a Lala. Really! ^^
Normally I play both chars. So should I burn 1-10 Fantasia a day, to not use an alt? xD

And honestly it sucks, how the situation is at the moment. I have a house with my main, but can't use it while playing with alt. And it's not nice that there is no possibility of communicating between chars on the same server.

That's just my point of view as a user, with 1 alt. I know SE has to care about a lot of issues in these matters.
But as a user it just sucks.

For example it also sucks, to make seasonal event's multiple times. My alt is not so old. But honestly I wouldn't have had the nerve to grind 2 Regalias. xD

Storage is a main problem in this game. Just my feeling. I gave up to collect a lot of items. I just store the really special ones and sell the rest. So I don't need more than 2 retainers. The retainer system is not so nice from scratch, in my eyes.

If people store everything with 20 retainers..., their problem. Yes, 'problem'. My maximum was 5 retainers and the hell was this laborious. xD

In the end, people always find their tricky ways. And crimimals spam the game with RMT either way. They're is not a single gaming day I have not to report multiple RMT ads.

I really hope that SE can focus a little bit more on their players wishes and not that much on criminals.

I hope for sharable houses (with same server alt) and maybe a way of communication between chars on the same server. It would be really premium if seasonal events just have to be done with 1 char pro server.
And to the people who said, that they wouldn't want the last point: Okay, then throw the items away. xD You don't have to use them.

And I personally would have one more wish, that I guess, would be really much work. Oh please SE, fix Elezen's bodyproportions. xD
I hope for that sooo much. Especially their necks look really weird while animations, emotes and so on. I gave this race a chance. And I like Elezen. But I also understand why other players blame me giraffe. :'D

(The blaming is not okay, but the necks are really..., 'critical'.)

The problem with storage isn't made any worse by alts vs. having a single character - although of course being able to transfer between alts would help.

Within the current system though, alts are actually better for glamour dresser management than if I was trying to fantasia between multiple "characters" on a single playable character. There's some overlap between what items are in each alt's dresser, mostly utility pieces, but there are a lot of things that only one of my several characters would use and their glamour plates are all nothing alike.

And I personally would have one more wish, that I guess, would be really much work. Oh please SE, fix Elezen's bodyproportions. xD

Having played with a few different character types, they all have something odd about them really. You just have to decide whether the bits you're happy with about the character designs are worth putting up with the bits you don't like. An actual redesign of the characters would be very unlikely at this point.

For what it's worth, from when I was playing around in the character creator, I feel like the "young face" Elezen you're using seems more off-proportion than the other faces. I think maybe because you expect that younger characters should naturally have smaller proportions, but the game just puts all face models on the same body.

Well its not that u need alt in this game in the first place, the idea of this game is centered around having one char that can be and do everything ingame and represents you. Except for maybe playing with friends on other servers the is no real reason to have an alt and even than a server transfer would be the better choice if you plan playing with them for a long time. If you want an alt because of more space or a second, third or whatever housing thats just beeing greedy and no excuse.

If you want to skip story or level up faster, there is stuff in the mog store that can help you with that.

To play across multiple armor classes at one's maximum potential during progression, you do need an alt, since gear lockouts and weekly currencies are essentially account-based, rather than per-roll, unless you have a separate character for each of those roles.

Granted, there are incredibly few people who would ever want, let alone need, to optimize across multiple armor classes during progression.

Well that maybe a reason but usually you focus on 1 class as main when you are a progress raider that plays with a fixed group or does savage and so on. And as you said i doubt there are that many players that focus on more than 1 or 2 classes for the hard raid content. If you want a shortcut its like already mentioned, you can pay to save time. Nothing is for free, if you want something you have to work towards in, one way or another.

Most alts are going to be either for RP reasons or for people to play end game content with multiple sets of friends. Since we can't help them without costing them loot. That entire mechanic essentially does push you to make an alt but punishes you for doing it at the same time. At the very least we should be able to mail our alts and add them to our houses.

Yes wouldn't be much of an incentive for multiple homes if they could. They've pretty much fixed that now but common banks should be a norm.

I am tiered of such words. Really...
Also because it's not true. I mean, you can only have 3 specialists per character in crafting, but there are 9 classes.
And there are a lot of things you 'don't really need'. You also don't 'need' glamour, multiple mounts, housing and so on. :'D

If wanna play constantly different races you need an alt.
I know lots of people who have a Lalafell alt.
And I don't want multiple houses. Just wanna the possibility to share my house with my Lala alt. And there are lots of people with alts and houses at different servers because sharing the house on 1 server isn't possible. Guess that's a big mess. Some rich people even pay for different service-accounts to share their house with their alts at the same server as their main and to mail their alts. That's just unfair. I sometimes use a friend for mailing. But most of the time he has no subscription. xD

@Iscah no. The problem isn't the young face. It's that giraffe neck and that most gear looks strange at Elezen bodies. For example this expensive angel outfit don't looks good at Elezen.
And there are real reasons why Elezen get hated for their long necks.

2 very famous Npc's of the game are Elezen. But nevertheless less people play Elezen. Mostly because of their body proportions. Especially because of this necks. The neck behaves also very strange while animations. Looks broken sometimes. I never recognised such matters as a Hyuran or Miqo, or Au' Ra, while playing.

I guess SE is not going to fix this. Would be too much work. But at least it's not impossible to redesign character classes. In this loadstone pic Balder's head seems small. But in game action that's no real matter.

But in deed there is an issue about this. My retainer (garden) has Balder's appearance as a Hyuran. When my Elezen stands next to him it's noticeable that the head of this 2m Elezen is in fact smaller than the 1,80m Hyurans. xD
But at least the head size is not the big problem. It's that loooong and weird behaving neck, no matter which face.

In the end I am going to stay Elezen for now, ignore that hate and be happy about the positive reactions. ^^
