Gaining a fourth Adventure Squad recruit from the Hunting Log

Hi, I'm new here.

I've reached 2nd Lt with the Adders and am told I need to find a fourth member to continue further and that they're unlocked through the hunting log. I'm currently working through the Battles category, but the last one, "Complete and mark off 3 Wondrous Tails" called "tales of derring-do bad and good luck" requires three tails.

And yet, near as I can tell you can only do one a week and the log progress resets weekly. So am I supposed to do 3 wondrous tails in one week to top off the category? Also, what are the odds of unlocking a squad recruit? It seems extremely low.

The challenge log doesn't need to be completed in order. You can do literally anything. Gold Saucer is an easy way to clear out several challenges in a short span of time with little investment.

I think you got the Hunting Log confused with the Challenge log. The first one unlocks as you get promoted and is for classes only, the second is a completely optional log in game which rewards you for completing certain things.

Edit: nevermind, seems the confusion was on my side!

I mean, they misnamed it, but clearly still understood what they were talking about. Squad recruits are triggered by Challenge Log, "Battles" is an entry in the Challenge Log. "Wonderous Tails" is a challenge in the Challenge Log.

It just means individual entries. So you can do 9 entries in a single book each week, so by doing 3 of the 9 entries you can complete the requirement for that specific challenge log

you can also do the same wondrous tails duty 3 times by using second chances to reopen the duty you already did.
