Needing help getting back into the game

So I came back after about 7 months and I don't remember how to play the class I have. So I was considering starting from the basics of level 1 to level, archer or pugilist. What would be easiest to level in dungeons to get back in the hang of things? Someone had said Paladin but I wasn't sure I'd be good at tanking. Thank you so much.

Generally speaking, archer is probably easier for most people than pugilist. Archer doesn't have any positionals, can attack from close or far as needed, and doesn't really have combos.

I was about to spend probly 10 minutes typing out a guide to re-teaching yourself to play your old class, in case it was something that interested you but you thought might be too much work. Then i remembered that with the expansion dropping in 3 weeks everyone will be re-learning everything all over again soon. The classes getting minor changes shouldnt take too long to get the hang of, but a few are almost being torn down and rebuilt from the bottom up. So id say do what seems fun, and re-assess your situation in 3 weeks.

Archer is easier then pugilist. That said, perfect monk play might be easier then perfect bard play. At its highest levels bard has a lot of micro-managing to do involving buffs songs and damage output(snap-shotting dots, optimal song and buff rotations, aoe vs single target skills, optimal trash-pull LB usage, etc). Tanking isnt as hard as its made out to be - dealing with other players is probly the worst part. Same for healing(incase conjurer/white mage might be on your radar).

oh thank you, I didn't know some classes were being reworked. I'll have to look into that. Everything just seems so daunting, and I didn't want to go into a duty and put other people through my noobness lol. I'm at a post HW dungeon in the MSQ. I'll look for the reworks and see the changes. I did want to play Dancer when it came out so I'll check that out too. Thank you guys

At the end of the month a lot of people will be trying dancer(and gunblade) for the first time, and no one will be good at it yet(some will learn fast, some im sure will never get the hang of it). So just farming up some poetics(for gear) and putting the story in a good place to jump in with your new class is probly a great idea. As for the classes being changed, everything is getting tweaked. Six of the DPS will be "mostly the same", the other 3 being some degree of rebuilt. Tanking and healing are getting general overhauls, which will of course effect all 6 classes. Role actions will be changing again for everyone. And of course, some new skills in the 71-80 range all around. That might be one of the topics that comes up in the live letter this week.
