    The power of Ideas can change people lives: SE please hear our voice!

    Dear SE I have been playing for quite long now and I always been in love for the game, sadly the new updates received about ShB left me Heartbroken. I guess you all know I am talking about the healer jobs !

    I am a healer main, passionate about what I do and devoted to my guilds. I would like in the next few paragraphs to explain why the decisions taken and the new updated sees this role taken apart and destroyed damaging the player base in all world, will lead to irreparable damages and also will lower the enjoyability of the game itself.

    I am not criticizing, I am not biased in any way and I like to look forward to updates with hope but I really can’t now and I want to try right now to represent in the best way I can the feeling and ideas of most of the community healers or not. I don’t want to talk about potencies of spell/ abilities and stuff because that can be fixed. Let’s talk about basic concept that can be easily represented and I think we all mostly can agree:

    The Astrologian Card system has been totally reworked and from an entertaining, various and stimulating concept got boring and plain giving the sense that the Astrologian now is about to lose its identity and ability to actually “effect players destiny” with its power.

    Having all cards with different effects is what people most like about this class and one of the first reasons we fall in love for it, now all cards will be exactly the same, a plain 8/6/3/4% dmg buff. Wow, how innovative!

    I mean you had a fantastic concept already in place and variously approved by the community but you decided to take it apart and make it silly and not interesting at all.
    Each card is special and it was only needed to rework the “Spire” because won’t be more TP, each class benefits from cards in it’s on way, Blm/Smn love Arrow to boost their spell speed or Brd/mch benefits most of all from crit buff, or poor healers sometimes may need to Ewer themselves to keep the team alive so why you took that from us?!

    Also why only melees and ranges got a full buff but not tank and healers? That’s absurd and a bit offensive because I think healers and tanks deserve a little buff too because even little but their contribution matter, by doing that it’s like you want make feel heal/tank role sdiminished and less important than others when what matter the most is team work and team effort!

    I mean, I don’t really mind about a small buff such as 6% but for a matter of principle because I don’t think heals/tanks have to feel like having less value because their dps highly effect the party overall dmg. You decided to make 8 cards all the same but at least 1 for tank and 1 for healer just to feel the players a bit more rewarded and valued doesn’t seem a bad idea.

    I understand what you guys mean with making the Ast “more busy” and ok you decide to remove Royal road and Spread so actually each card have its value and the player have much more bottoms to press but now by removing all the various effect you automatically destroyed the idea of making the class more fun or better anyway. 0 decision making will be required.

    Also on a technical point of view this new card system will create a huge disparity in overall damage for parties with or without an Ast even more than before ShB. In an average run an Ast will be able to draw up to 30ish cards all with dmg buff, a party without an Ast will have their raid dmg consistently lower compared and that will just create the implied need of having specifically an Ast role in the group just for cards. That will damage the WHM players image and destroy the Ast personal identity of healers to be replace with a “card giver” title. Thanks!

    The Scholar, what were you guys thinking were making the updates and why you utterly destroyed this class and its magic. I don’t want to talk about my personal hopes but just how this class and all the guild has been damaged by these bad decisions.

     Starting with making our Eos and Selene that will be exactly the same but with a different glamour I think is lazy and definitely not an update. I mean is not just boring but also really dysfunctional and useless at this point.
    We all hoped for the fairy to be reworked and maybe having fully Eos as healing pet and Selene as buff pet for speed runs but was better to leave them the same instead than just merge them, how is that helpful or performance/healing/fun related nobody know but we are really deluded.

     The Scholar dps kit has been tore apart and minimized to the minimum from challenging, various and colorful rotation to a press two buttons deal.
    SE how do you think all the Scholars in the worlds so thousands of aficionados will feel waking up in the morning on the 28th of June and see their identity missing and not having anymore a dps kit as before, did you think about player based feeling and how you purposively made a part of your community betrayed? I hope so.

    It’s not a matter of number of skills and dps itself but a matter of identity because the sch as always been tied to spells like Miasma,Miasma2,Shadow Flare, Energy drain that represent what scholar are. You gave art of war as aoe dmg spell for dungeons that is exactly Miasma2 so why don’t just leave it there!
    I and many more choose to be Sch because of how engaging is and more requiring than other healers but now you decide to make just cut our rotation.
    You said the healers will be reworked to be more healing focus to enhance the “Pure healer” role, well if difficulty and amount of healing requires in end game contents will increase I am TOTALLY happy with that. Now there is not a huge amount of healing required and contents can be done and people kept alive fairly easy with practice and knowledge of class.

    I am favorable to that, I think if you really like this role and healing well a more intense challenge would be nice and that will require new healers actually to study their classes and to build working timeline for a fight.

    Still was not any reason at all to destroy our rotation at all because the two things are not related! Good healers dps when are not required to heal, now you can easily do 50% heal and 50%dps and if you increase the difficulties in endgame/savage contents well we will heal 80% of time and dps the rest of 20% of time but still we are entitled to have an engaging rotation, contribute to the party and have fun with it.

    What you guys didn’t understand is that this change to pure healer concept won’t change the average mind setting of players, if you as healer care about you team and your own performance still will want to contribute as more as possible to party dmg but if you are a sch on ShB you won’t be allowed to have fun with it.
    I hope you understand my point as a healer that I want to feel valuable and useful to my team and when I assured everybody maybe shielded or toped up and I have opportunity I want to help my team with dps but you are basically telling me you don’t care about my contribution.

    For a healer keep people alive is just the basic job like fulfilling your basic duty, you could just stand there passively and spam healing spells like there is no tomorrow and criteria but good healers will always want to optimize their healing so they can help the team by dpsing. That’s the challenge and sch has always been excelling in that but now you are basically telling us that our contribution is useless to you, how thoughtful!

    I really don’t understand why the Whm will have so much more dps abilities compared to others, including PoM that is basically a dps buff and Assize, also an instant dmg dot. I think will be fair if we could have kept at least a second dot or ED.

     The biggest issue for scholars will have with their MP in endgame contents. Sch will be the only class with no mana restoration skills (aetherflow is 1k every minutes and that’s less than the cost of 1 succor so doesn’t really count), so why? Ast got LS at least that halves the mana cost of spell and the Whm will still have assize to refill mp and Thin air.

     On a practical point of view I GUARANTEE that play sch especially during prog will be nightmare! Often to keep the party alive sch is required to uses multiple succor in a row that drain dangerously you mp and now except that for ED we won’t have anything to restore mana fast. In the future expansion outside of a raid optimize environments the Sch will heavily struggle to keep party alive in absence of synchronism with a healer you don’t know and when all the ogcd will run out, also sch will be rarely able to contribute to party dps. I ask you SE with kindness and in name of all Sch in the worlds to restore ED as skill and the “quicken aetherflow” trait.

    Mine doesn’t want to be a critique but just an accurate feedback from your community and from someone who cares. There is a big risk with the future conditions of healers that the entire community and not just the healers will be damaged.

    I’ve foreseen a future where most of healers will disappear or change role after feeling betrayed and fill a party on Pf will be eternal.

    I’ve foreseen a future where won’t be almost anymore sch in endgame contents because they won’t be able to perform highly as they always did.

    As a main Sch I can tell you honestly with shall I play this class when I am responsible of party mitigation and survival , when I am not feeling anymore useful as before but valued only as a shield bot and refrained from having fun.

    We (all scholar community) feel responsible enough to provide flawless healing when required but during the rest of the time I still would like to be appreciate for my dps contribution. Oh wait I don’t have anymore stimulation to go the extra mile for the team so shall I just heal when required and then just sit there?!
    Bye bye doing optimizations runs to just improve ourselves and have fun in the weekends because nobody will be there to heal and shield everyone. All we ask is to be valued, because the healer that can dps and support the team is to admire

    Hope this feedback I wrote will receive the responses I hope, I hope all of us community, healers or not can make hear the developer our voice and to motivate the to rectify mistakes before the expansion release, before it’s too late. I want them to understand that we all deserve happiness and to be satisfied as players and as part of the ffxiv community.

    First of all... you can edit your posts to bypass the character limit. Stupid I know but it works.

    Secondly, while I can understand SE wants to make healing more approachable, that's not possible. Sure, you might get more people trying out the role, but the vast majority won't stick with it. Healing (and I daresay tanking) require a particular psychology. Most people don't have that psychology and would rather be a DPS. But what this will do is turn away the healers that DO enjoy optimising etc. What's the point when our DPS has been made so barebones that the challenge will just be staying awake. We've asked for more healing yes, but that meant making encounters require more healing, not just decimate our DPS abilities.

    As I'm sure you are well aware, it takes more than one person to be able to kick a player from a duty, so in all those instances there were at least two people agreeing they'd be better off without you tanking.

    Or, stick with me on this one, we wait until the expac is released and we can see firsthand how things are going to work out. Then we can start asking for changes, adjustments or whatever else is necessary but for now it seems most things are pretty final for 5.0, what comes after that we'll see.
