Sch change makes me really upset and makes me think I might give up being a healer.

I know lots of people are complaining already. But I only really looked at what they are doing last night and I have to say I'm appalled.

I main scholar because I enjoy it. And they are going to take away everything that makes scholar different. They are completely removing the way I play this game.

I always use selene because her actions are so much more useful than eos'. I don't need healing regen. I want my ability to make my team's recast/skill timers go faster so they can use their actions more quickly. I don't want to lose my selene's ability to esuna the whole party at once. That's a really useful skill. ALSO why are they taking away my ability to choose who my fairy heals???

I've spent a lot of time learning to be able to manage my fairy and do my other healing skills at the same time. It's why playing scholar is so fun. But.. they are removing being able to even choose what the fairy does. It's completely ruining the point of having the fairy. Scholar's heals were never as impressive as white mage, since they are geared for preventing damage to make up the difference, so you had to think preemptively. And the fact that you could direct your fairy to heal a specific party member made all the difference. Plus selene had the ability to silence a target.

I could heal the tank with my casts and my fairy's casts and it would make up for the discrepancy in healing power. Scholars have always been able to heal just as well as white mage if you understood how to use your fairy. It made it so you had to be good at it and actually plan how to react to different situations. Like do you need more heals, or do you need to help your team be able to react faster. Depending on the situation you would switch between using eos or selene. For certain fights you would switch mid-fight to make up the difference in, either healing if super necessary, or increasing the speed of doing dps for those dps checks.

Scholars were always a compliment to Warriors because they provided the mitigation that Warriors lacked in comparison to Paladins. Paladins have more mitigation abilities so white mage was the compliment to them because they could focus on healing the party. Scholar's main focus with Warrior was mitigation which then would give them time to heal the party. And the fairy was useful at helping heal dps while you were focused on protecting your tank.

So they are taking away everything I loved about playing scholar. The complexity of class and are making it so you don't have to actually learn how to play it. You just button mash heals. This is honestly so upsetting to me because scholar has always been my favorite and the most fun for me to play. Nothing against white mages, because you guys are good healers, I just found playing the class super boring.

I understand you. But you can watch in the future. I lose my cards (and I use a lot of them and not only the balance^^), I miss the extending from HoTs from TD and CO. But we get new tooles. So you get "call outs" for the fairy so the manging is a bit harder, that is like the fairy skills so no worries here. (I belive they make it for a easy way to make makros^^. Its hard to use /pac *hust* *hust*)

That aspect is gone with the new Embrace,BUT you have to help your fairy to heal the right taget. So stand on her side and dont let her heal alone. Or she gets the problem to lose the right taget to heal.

But as I read your comand I see that you help her if needed. So you will have more fun to do it. Its not like "lets go Eos/Selene you can do it alone." =) Adlo is buffed for singletaget so you can suport your WAR friends so np.^^

I understand that SCH lose so much like us ASTs but we get a new adjustment. In ShB you have work with your fairy as team instand of all addons befor! And if you can handle this task; you absolute strong. And one positiv things you have you can choose the fairy witch is best for you outfit.

I understand not wanting to play SCH right out the gate, but I'd advise you to be on the lookout for adjustments to SCH in the very near future. SE has a history of adjusting SCH for the better (giving back abilities they lost, QoL changes, etc) if the playerbase is largely unhappy. You may yet see SCH return to what made you fall in love with the job, and still be an OP healer. Even if it's just a smidge, try and hold onto hope.

I'm not totally sure I understand what you're saying.

But I don't use macros at all.

Why would I want to stand near a dps to make sure my fairy is healing that person? That would just put me in the way where I'm gonna get hit and die?

I never let my fairy do solo healing. I always have her on obey so I am completely in control of her abilities because she always wastes stuff at the wrong times if she's not on obey.

Actually they are making the fairy do strictly healing only that you can't even direct, which makes my healing less important over all and then taking away my range of dps abilities so I'll basically just be standing there doing nothing. because there won't be anything for me to do.

I REALLY hope they'll just undo this whole garbage idea. Its so sad that they clearly don't understand their own game.

First off. Selene...isnt as great as you think she is. Her haste buff is only about an extra HALF of a gcd each minute. While I've had a few moments where I've been able to land her silence, the fact its tied to a pet delay makes it feel spotty compared to a ranged or tank ogcd interrupt. Fey Caress is one of those skills that are fantastic when you can use it, but useless in every other case, especially now that esuna is tied to a role action.

Eos' extra healing and (albeit magic only) mitigation, on the other hand, is what allows you to deal more damage and lean more of your healing onto your pet. Free healing= less healing you have to do = more damage you can deal.

And yes, you will still be able to have some level of control over your fairy come shadowbringers. You can still place her on the tanks butt to make her ai favor them due to her going by proximity when selecting a target. And even then, it's kinda nerfed now. And if you really really need to have her heal someone use Aetherpact and make her tether to the person. The only difference now is you have to do an off global command to make her do stuff.

It's a shame then, I actually wouldnt mind keeping Selene's silence with this pet rework since it would be much much more reliable to utilize. It also would've given sch something else unique in being the only healer who can do interrupts.

I'm crossing my fingers and hoping it isn't as bad as it appears for now, but I think it's more than fair to be concerned.
