I know that many people these days believe that end game is the real game in mmorpgs, but that is a fairly new concept. In ffxiv's case it has kept a older style of mmorpg. The real game is the adventure THROUGH the game, not any specific part of it. So no, there should be no skipping of anything imo. Like others have said, the msq from 2.0-2.5 needs some work, but nothing else.

That adventure is so comically bad it caused all of my real life friends to quit the game and a dozen others I met through the internet and invited to FF14.

Out of the 40 people or so I invited to this game, only TWO stayed. And both of them despise the "adventure" through the game.

And I have about 7-10 people start the game and love it and are still playing. This argument is invalid. /endthread

Maybe... the game just wasn't for them?

It's a no from me, cheif.

Consolidate the quests, which yoshi-p has already said its on their roadmap (look up one of the hundreds of QnA videos from the media events, its on one of them). It's just not a priority, and rightly so. If a new player is coming to the game, I would urge them to do the MSQ at least once. Beyond that, it's up to them what they want to do.

Now for the real tea: This sounds like a complaint coming from someone who has too many alts and wants a quick, free fix. As someone stated previously (on the first page at least), WoW did this exact thing with Death Knights and later Demon Hunters. It removes so much of the game from you. It's quite frankly a silly thing to actively remove chunks of the game from you.

Free level 50? no. roulettes are unenjoyable enough without having people that don't know anything at all about their class.

Cut down/ re-work arr stuff to not be such a torturous slogfest? sure.

I know lots of people think jump potions should be purchased, but as time goes by I think jump potions shouldn’t be the only option for players to catch up. Starting level 50 from Heavensward makes the most sense to me so we get new characters without disrespecting existing players.
    Upvote if you agree
Its harder and harder to get new players in the game, eh? Yoshi P at E3 just said 2 days ago the game currently has the most active subs it has EVER had.

    1. "Active Subs" to SE is classified as any account that has logged in within the last 6 months.
    2. I've seen plenty of players give up part way through ARR because they don't see any hope of reaching end game within a reasonable time frame, and wanted to play an MMO, not a single player game. (their words) These people would still be classed as "Active Subs" to SE.

IMO what is going to happen at some point expansions will include a skip potion once SE consider is more likely that people leave than stick around. You can say whatever you want, yet in reality, the game is designed to be played by a wide arrange of players and some just want to play with their friends.

And is sad because giving skipping potions is not the solution. From my point of view not making each expansion independent was a mistake, why I mean by this? Simple, keep everything like it is today but once you hit 50 with a class you can jump right away to HW, continue with ARR or mix both if you feel like it. Same for everything else. Want to unlock everything from an expansion? Finish the relevant MSQ and side quests. Want to rush to the latest expansion to play with your friend? Go ahead, you can always continue with ARR/HW/SB later on!

Sadly I know is not going to happen because at times certain MSQ require to revisit locations from other expansions.

It would also severely limit the scope of the MSQ. Hard to tell a greater story when you are limited to a very episodic, self-contained, villain of the week format.
