I'd just like to add that a significant factor in the Lakshmi story is how scary such mind control is. All primals can temper but they really focus on Lakshmi's apparent need to bring everyone else under her sway and the danger of losing allies to tempering. So she is somewhat scary but there doesn't need to be a sexual element to it.

To get straight to the point, I hate Lakshmi. She scares me, the main reason being is her special move "Alluring Embrace" which is an attack that essentially puts the entire party into a charmed state and to put it bluntly, makes people fall for her.

Now you may be thinking "ok why does the move scare you?" my character Garoth Gragonith, is a canotical gay Roegadyn Male within the Eorzea lore. He has no attractions to females at all, nor does he have any attractions to goddesses or ladies of the insert location here.

My overall point is this, these kinds of skills/spells just make me feel uncomfortable. And I know this game isnt suppose to bend to my will but consider this.

You seem to be missing a massively important point here. Charms and so on are MAGIC. It's mind control. Mind control does not care about your sexual orientation. The point of mind control is to override how you actually feel and think. It might be easier if your sexual orientation is a certain way but it does not make you immune. Your sexual orientation is not a valid defence against magic.

You also seem to be assuming that each of these charms are of a sexual or romantic nature. You can admire and love someone without being sexually or romantically attracted to them. You do not need to have romantic or sexual feelings for someone to have undying loyalty to them.

It seems you thought about this a lot without really thinking about it.

Lakshmi is the Hindu Goddess of wealth, fortune, and prosperity. She's associated with lotus petals because the lotus is symbolism for fortune, self-knowledge and spiritual liberation. More importantly the lotus can bloom in either clean or dirty water which can symbolize purity regardless of the good or bad circumstances that it grows from.

So the big draw of Lakshmi in XIV is that she's a primal summoned by the ananta as their goddess. Lakshmi in game simply wants to grant the wishes for people who "dream". However the big thing is in XIV she's a fake goddess, and can only simply let them "dream" that they have achieved their true happiness.

Lemme pull some lyrics from her trial son to give you a better idea:
"Rise high, High above our rivals, Spread our wings, Spread them wide, Let them fly,
Keep high, Free to ever slumber, Open the door, Close our eyes, We are the dreamers,"

compared to the second verse:
Rise high, High above your rivals, Spread your wings, Spread them wide, You needn't hide,
Keep high, Free to ever slumber, Open the door, Close your eyes, You are the dreamer.

Notice how the first lyrics talk about our and we, while the second lyrics talk about you? She's seducing you with song making you become a dreamer. The song itself is even titled Beauty's Wicked Whiles to add to this.

The "Rest your weary souls in my bosom" line is more of a motherly term. It's just saying something on the lines of "Let me take care of you" and not meant to be taken sexually. Albeit with the hearts and visuals I can see why that would be an immediate conclusion for some.

Sexual attraction may seem like the main idea behind her but it's honestly not, I think it's more so the idea of her that makes her so attracting. She's granting dreams/happiness but at the cost of blissful ignorance.
