Lakshmi Creeps Me Out

I hate this primal and she is terrifying... In my case I don't like how huge she is and her face gives me major uncanny valley feelings.

She is "seducing" everyone against their will, gay, straight, asexual, everyone. It's not that deep it's sort of like being tempered but her approach is supposed to be soothing and overbearing. It is scary but it's not sexually so. I find her more matronly and like a helicopter mom personally.

Truthfully i was being sincere and I actually had alot of people actually help me get over my fears alittle.

I know alot of people dont care but I love this game and I love learning about other peoples opinions and what they have to say!

The other people I just ignore lol its thanks to them that my posts are kept alive and well so the discussions can continue and I thank them for it.

So Garoth isnt really being drawn to her as an individual but rather the promise she will make all of his dreams come true.

I like that. It beats the heck outta turning him straight which is what I initially thought she was doing lol

From one gay man to another, you're overthinking it way too much. I think they leave her "seducing" you vague enough that it's left up to the interpretation of the player. Like someone earlier in the thread mentioned, she seems more matronly to me. Of course that wont stop some players from finding her attractive, nothing wrong with that either. My interpretation of her was if her spell worked on you (you failed to shield yourself in time) it just gave your character this general feeling of "Wow, someone actually loves ME!?" and then they find they'd do anything for her. Now, imo, every primal they add should be frightening in some way or form, even the pretty ones. Lakshmi's scary side turned out to be her mind control. I like that it adds that extra bit of creepy and unnerving factor to her. So far she has been my favorite primal in the game. I love her battle music and I find her design to be very unique and interesting.

This is a very maternal request, it invokes the thought that you are protected, warm, comfortable and provided for.
Much like the entire theme surrounding Lakshmi's shroud of contentment. I get it's a very (unfortunately) western thing to over sexualize women's anatomy unnecessarily, but the lore does address her themes nicely.

If anything you should fear Garuda, that b**** threw peoples body's to the ground so hard they made a meaty crack in CS.

yeah, its been pointed out pretty well but the whole thing about "resting your weary soul against my bosom" thing also evokes the imagery of a small child resting their head against a mothers chest to hear their heartbeat and thus, fall asleep. its a very twisted take on said mother/child imagery which fits a goddess who ensnares followers based not on outright force but false promises of eternal happiness and a carefree childlike existence

It's called tempering. No matter what race, sex or orientation someone is, if you're tempered by a primal, especially a primal like this, you will worship them whether or not you want to. The only reason our characters "resist" it is because we're already tempered to Hydaelyn who allows us to retain our free will (mostly) in exchange for saving the world. If we weren't already tempered to Hydaelyn, that attack would have canonically tempered us and her illusion would likely force us to see her as one which we truly love or are attracted to. That's pretty much what her bliss means. It's a facade.

Sorry it makes you uncomfortable due to your character's orientation, but primals and magic don't discriminate and there's a reason why they're evil. They take away your character's free will.

Now the good thing is, your character counts as a warrior of light (aka tempered to Hydaelyn) in the MSQ and thus you cannot be tempered, so her charm attack can only confuse him temporarily before he breaks free from it due to sheer will power. The same can be said for similar Charm attacks throughout the game.

Wouldnt that make you uncomfortable? An enemy essentially turning you into something that your not? Basically making you love/fall for something or someone would would never find attractive/be with in your life?

I think that’s the point the story is trying to make though. These enemies’ abilites are so potent that no matter how strong your will is, you can’t possibly resist.

A bad reference point but... Remember when Ifrit made all those people praise him? You think they wanted to do that? You think they didnt want to resist him? He used his powers to influence or “seduce” them in a way.

Lakshmi didn’t try to use her power to influence us in the same way Ifrit did. She just made us want to bang her for a few seconds.

To get straight to the point, I hate Lakshmi. She scares me, the main reason being is her special move "Alluring Embrace" which is an attack that essentially puts the entire party into a charmed state and to put it bluntly, makes people fall for her.

Now you may be thinking "ok why does the move scare you?" my character Garoth Gragonith, is a canotical gay Roegadyn Male within the Eorzea lore. He has no attractions to females at all, nor does he have any attractions to goddesses or ladies of the insert location here.

Lakshmis skill just rubs me the wrong way, like I know it's not exactly what it seems but it's literally how it's being described to be within the canon of the battle. "Rest your weary head on my bosom" Unless its a fellow Roebro Garoth will do no such thing.

Now Im sure some of you will counter and say "Your only saying this because they are women if they were big burly husky monster men you would not care one bit" Not True!

So I ask, what's your opinion on skills/spells like these? Are my fears justified or am I thinking to deep? Do you share the same sentiments?

So there's a couple of issues here. You say that this has nothing to do with your preferences (or that of your character's at least, in the case of deep RP). But it clearly does. Otherwise you would have never mentioned the lack of female attraction at all. I mean we can't really have an honest conversation now. It seems to be a way to say "well this is the majority way of doing things and its leaving the minorities out," while masquerading as a fear of loss of control.

Or worse, it is actually about the fear of loss of control, but the argument is made in a way to appeal to an entirely different group to aid in the argument. We need to identify which tactic you are using before going forward. And you're going to need to discard one. So which part are you going to recant? Is this discussion about Loss of Control, or about how hetereosexual attraction is used in game mechanics? Its 2019, you can be honest here. The majority isn't going to judge. Unless of course you're being dishonest in your presentation of your argument.

And right now this appears to be blatant dishonesty. However, I'm pretty sure most could overlook that if one of the positions is recanted. Or at least I'm willing to give it a second shot. What say you, OP? Which is it going to be?

The seduction spells are likely just a magical effect that forces the targets to become more vulnerable to the boss' ire and has nothing to do with the boss wanting to sexually harass your character.

The only one who does is Midgardsormr.
