House buying system adjustments - Lottery System

To promote the physical and mental wellbeing of FFXIV platers, it might be a good idea to have a housing lottery system for first-time house buyers.

At the housing placard, players would still have the option to relocate immediately, thus giving people with existing housing first choice on the house of their dreams. Players without houses, and with sufficient gil could also apply to buy the house for either their FC or as a personal house, adding their name to a hidden list of interested players. Multiple members of FCs with the proper permissions could also apply, similar to how plot camping works today - the more people camping, the higher the chance of success. Similar to plot camping today, only one plot per person could be applied for at a time.

The random, hidden timer would still exist. At the end of the timer, if no one relocated, a random player would be selected from the list, and if they still had enough gil, the gil would be automatically deducted and they would receive a message immediately or when they next logged in that they had purchased the plot. If they didn't have enough gil, then a new name would be selected. All non-successful applicants would also receive a notification that they could apply for another plot.

This would allow players who don't have a house the ability to progress in the game while waiting for the random timer, while eliminating groups of players losing sleep to camp plot timers.

I like the idea, though id prefer if it removed the gil immediately rather than when its completed so you dont have situations of having 100 gil off and losing the house.

Id also like those who have high playtime and no houses on their account to have a higher chance to get the house. Something to discourage bots claiming houses.

If they went the lottery route, I'd change demolitions so an entire lot of them would be available to bid on for a 24hr period the day after they'd been reclaimed by the system. Everyone puts there name in for the available lots (including for relocating), while designating top choices (win two plot? You get your top choice and the other is rerolled). Why for relocation too? Because a lot of dream plots are extremely rare to ever come back to market, you should not have to luck out snagging a house first, just to get a shot at one if it becomes available. Also have the server hold gil up to the most expensive plot that was entered for. Excess gil is returned when the lot is drawn.

*cough* I know what you're going for, but given the effectiveness of the STF against non-rmt related bots, that would probably give the exact opposite effect you're after.

While it sure would end the unhealthy "i have to stay 7 hours long clicking a sign reapeatidly" nonsense, it wouldn't end all the rage about the house shortage though. Winning an item in a spammable instance with a 1/8 chance is already hard enough, now imagine with a way longer delay of some days/weeks to try it again, and having to roll against hundreds of competitors (hundreds is what you will get if anybody can have a go at it by going a few seconds at the sign). You could go on for years without winning anything if you didn't pray RNGesus enough.

In the end it would only be another band-aid on a broken leg. Instanced housing pls XD

Or SE could create a system in which every player has equal chance of getting a house without needing to rely on luck, instead of trading one broken system for another...again.

Lotto is the best solution I've been able to think of , and have voiced as much so far.

Which just promotes RMT and doesn't solve the core issue.

We need a better housing system, not one that only rewards the very lucky or very rich few.

Do you want to talk about how having marketable relic items encourages RMT? What about the map items? What about gold coffers in potd/hoh? There's too much gil in circulation as it is and not enough gil sinks...

Lazy people encourage RMT, not the rewards, though I don't agree with a bidding system.
