Housing demolition timer need to be changed! Sitting on your property needs to count.

Things change. He said that before housing was released. After it was released, they had to adjust their plan, as players demanded unused plots be released for people to purchase. This is why they no longer talk about stuff that is not set in stone, or give us hints of what is in the works. Because people DON'T LET GO.

As Valkyrie_Lenneth had already stated, things change. People seem to cling to the statements of "There will never be a system like Ultima Online" or "Personal housing will be cheaper than FC housing", even though said statements were made very early in ARR's lifespan. Statements made by a much less experienced Yoshi-P, who has no doubt learned a lot from those mistakes.

I could care less about housing but it kinda makes me laugh how many people sit here and attack OP for what happened but if the shoe was on the other foot and it happened to you.
you'd be right in the forums angry yourselves don't pretend you wouldn't be.

this goes even for the players who don't have a house who want one because if you were able to obtain a house and lost it in the same way I betcha 100% you'd be doing what OP is doing now heh.

So are we going to completely ignore the fact that someone was literally sitting in front of his house's door for an entire month and two weeks and not even once bothered to click on the door? It's something that takes 30 seconds! It's not a matter of attacking someone or not, it's a matter of someone complaining about something that could have been prevented if they actually cared about it, and they had an opportunity to prevent it every single day because they were not unsubbed. If they like the ward more than the fact they have to keep a house then ask a friend to share their estate. No obligations, same purpose.

I'm not worried about what happened to the OP. What is sick is the fact that people are fine with those who have legitimate concerns about losing housing in situations they cannot control get hurt just so that people like the OP who derp up a mistake get hammered too. I cannot even comprehend the reasoning for that stance.

In a situation like that I feel like if you can't step in Final Fantasy for 45 days because a situation you can't control, gaming should probably not be your top priority at the moment. It sure sucks, but I'm pretty sure whatever people might be going through in life for those 45 days of absence is more important than login on an MMO. And if something happens on a big scale, SE always makes sure to lift the auto-demolition system.

You assume. But I speak from experience having been through both disasters and a deployment. Yes the last thing one cares about during a disaster or deployment is a MMO house. But those situations don't last a lifetime. You eventually get power back, or get home. So it'd be nice to have a dwelling sitting there waiting for those of us who go through such events.

Currently there is flooding in much of the midland US. The system is NOT paused as demos happened a few days ago. Some peeps have lost their IRL homes. Its going to be a kick in the nuts for those that do play the game to find they lost their IG home as well. And I doubt SE will be willing to hold demo's everytime a military unit deploys. If that was the case, suspend demo's indefinitely.

If it happened to me it'd be my own fault for not walking into the house I apparently spent a month and a half sitting in front of not using, just like it's the OPs fault for doing... that. Can't blame the game for your own choices, whether the system is a broken mess or not. :P

Ye----ah no. See what you and whoever agrees with you fail to understand is that OP lost his house cause he was LAZY. He KNEW about the system. He knew enough to know " I better sit in my lawn so I don't lose my house" Funny about that was he was missinformed and had he did a tiny amount of research would've NEVER lost his house. I'm sorry but He not only knew enough to go and FIND a house but to sit there and not use it cause - lazy- and then get mad when it's taken cause he didn't do his homework? Nah fam you gets no pats on the head from me at that point.

Noone is attacking the OP. but people are NOT going to sit here and baby him either... and most likely would NEVER do it when threads upon threads are made about how getting one is hard as balls. To use an old qoute... you can't cry to poor people about not having enough money for a second house and a boat and not being rich enough and expect those same poor people to feel sorry for you.

well off the end of the day both sides are right. I never unsub from the game, because it took me A LONG time and A LOT of work to get my house and I dont wanna lose it. But I also understands that we need the timer, otherwise wards will never get free houses and we even have a bigger crisis. Altough I wish sometimes I could just unsub for a while and take a break. Anyhow - mayyyybe, hooopefully one day we get instanced houses ( yes yes, apartments are instanced houses, but I need more space then a lousy room) where we dont have to fear to lose everything we did build. (Apartments do not get demolished, so that would be nice for other instanced housing)
