Housing demolition timer need to be changed! Sitting on your property needs to count.

I will say this, where as OP did screw up by not going into his house, it dosent change the fact that the system is rather flawed. If someone is paying a sub, they shouldnt have to go back to their home just to go inside... For those people jumping in and saying they do it with multiple characters, then you technically arent useing your homes as the game intended either and just have them to have them. I dont think thats super wrong, though i will say why would you ever need more than one home is beyond me.

The system should be changed to either no cause time lose as long as your sub is active and only start the timer the moment your sub goes unpaid or at least allow simply being on your property to count seeing as somewhere the game knows who owns the lot and who has permissions because i belive fountains and certain light fixtures as well as the firepit cannot be used by people who are not owners or part of said fc.

Did larry or merri lose their house too not too long ago, Now I don't agree with the sitting on a house nonsense however perhaps actually adding a in game notice when you log in and not when you click on the door it self I mean they already have a system setup to do it when you have 5 days of sub left am pretty sure they could add that or a pop message when you login in the game.

I agree. What the OP is promoting is new ways to neglect their own housing, which would be self-defeating for Square Enix to implement.

Just my opinion but having the timer reset by being on the property or giving a Big pop up message just screams lazy. People who want to keep their Home make sure the enter routinely demo or not, they also keep up with demo's activation and deactivation.

Here are a few things you should consider:

1) Currently letting your house auto-demolish is the only way to get the money you paid for it back and some people actually use and appericiate that.
2) Having an active sub or even having and active sub AND logging in should indeed not be enough given how rare housing is - I think we all agree that they should come up with some way to make that less exclusive, but until they do that, the problem persist. And you dont solve that problem with the suggestion that you're defending here. Only having to step on your property wont make keeping a house any easier, it would only retroactivly undo a mistake the OP made.
3) Can someone finally explain whats so difficult about entering not only your property, but your house aswell? You've been going on and on about how they must already have a system in place to track wether or not you're on your property. Guess what: They also have a system in place already to track wether or not you care enough about your house to enter it every 45 days. Why are you and the OP insisting on dev-time being spend on this change that has minor-effect on the playerbase instead of using said time to develop something that will allow for instance-houses instead?

Personal answer to why you need multiple houses: While I personally only own one, I had far more ideas for decorating than I could pull off in that one. And since its a mansion redecorating isnt easy but a week-longs undertaking. So I asked some friends of mine who arent that intrested in decorating if they wouldnt want to buy some of the small plots around my house - and they did, made me a tenant and some of them gave me free hand with the whole design, some wanted only a little help, so we decorated the houses together. Decorating is extremly fun to me, so I can see why someone would want to decorate more than one house.
Also: Gardens to massproduce things. Depending on the size of your FC and on how much you care about them, you might need quite a few gardens to ensure that everyone gets their pets and mounts.

Bottomline though: Yes, the housing system is in need of fixing, but that fix has to be instance housing. The request to make stepping on your property count instead of stepping inside your house seems rather silly to me - if you can do the first one, you can do the second one with adding less than 30 seconds to your efforts.
(If you're so worried about those 30 seconds... are you people using yolkfish to seperate your eggs?)

You know, I'll admit to making a mistake - I've been thinking about this on and off during the day and you know what happend? I got angry. And I really shouldnt have been thinking about it, but here is what makes me so angry with the specific request that "stepping on your property should reset the timer already":

First I want to mention that I have an tremendous amount of sympathy for everyone who lost their ingame house due to some reallife issues that prevented them from either paying their sub and/or logging in. I feel deeply sorry for everyone who lost their house because they couldnt reset the timer because they were in a personal crisis or the hospital or in military service or lost their job and couldnt afford to pay for the game anymore. I feel sorry for the people who come back to the game after getting their life back on track and they come back to their house being gone. The current system is not "fair" to those people - or maybe "kind" would be a better word here. And I truely hope they'll find means to change the system in a way that allows you to just keep your ingame home - or add a new system that allows for instances housing that achieves the same thing.

But now lets look what has happend in the OPs case:
We're talking about someone extremly priviliged here. Someone who can afford a sub, who can afford to log in regularly and got to their house regularly. And who still lost it. For the sole and only reason that even though his sub was active and he was at his house, he didnt step inside of it and who didnt lose their home because of anything out of their hands but only because of neglect. I dont even want to say laziness again, because it doesnt feel exactly lazy to me not to enter a house when that takes all of 30 seconds at best...
This is someone who had cake with sprinkles and wants a different kind of sprinkles add to it now.

The system doesnt need to be changed so it counts that you step onto your property. The system is working for everyone who can do that (=stepping onto their property) already - they just need to step inside their house too. I dont see why the whole "Well, they already track that you entered your yard, dont they?"-discussion was needed when the current requirement ("Step inside the house") is just as easy to fullfill as the proposed changed one ("Step on your property at all").

I do wish that one day we can do away with the auto-demolition as it is right now. But I wish that for the people who lose their home to unfortunate circumstances. Not for people who are actually fully capable of keeping their house within the current system but choose not to do so for some reason.

Last time to answer this on post: "I did not notice the timer, thus the post to add a Pop uP NOTICE!", Have outside interacting with your property count, and add instance housing. I have had my house and plot going on 3+ years. Still have it even with the auto demo, I dont enter my house every time I log on I dont need a reminder like some child to be told to enter my house. If you cant be hassled to enter your house once in a 45 day period then you dont need the house. Go buy apartment they exist for people like you who rarely enter them and want one just to have one!! Last thing I am also a FC leader with a FC house, I visit the FC house more then my own members..
