Housing demolition timer need to be changed! Sitting on your property needs to count.

I do advocate for a change in housing sure... shorten the demolition timer to 24 hours. And delete all items when the plot is demolished (so zero way to pick up the lost items). That would esnure that there are plenty plots free. Want to go on holiday? Well tough luck, say goodbye to your house. As well as charge (in gil) 100'000 a day rent for a small plot, 1'000'000 a day for medium, and 10'000'000 a day rent for large plots. Miss one payment, and goodbye goes the house. They wouldn't need instanced housing then (since they seem to be so steadfastly set on no instanced housing).

For the record, I'm being sarcastic here, I actually believe we should have instanced housing. They need to sit down and make the changes required. Perhaps they could start by making the supposed Ishgard housing instanced? Then make changes to the code in a sandboxed environment bit by bit, until they figure out exactly what needs changing in the other areas to convert them to instanced housing areas (or perhaps leave them as is and just make future housing areas instanced, or perhaps add an "Instanced" version of each of the original 3 housing areas?). The data stored for each house would likely be a megabyte at most per house. Storage is cheap. I think it can be done.

I know it probably cant happen because its a different engine so maybe they cant do similar, but I really liked Wildstars housing system. Everyone got a plot and you could do so much, literally build it yourself, I miss it.

I don't think housing should have timers at all if you have an active sub. It's very archaic. It'd be nice if tenants could reset the timer too though since we do have it. But really if you have a sub you should not have a timer.

Hey OP, it sucks I know... there have been warnings about demolition via patch notes, people posting about it, there is a in game timer that is buried in menus, and maybe emails that are unreliable, but I can understand your frustration that you lost your house. I can imagine it is very demoralizing. I personally think that house demolition should be tied to their subscription... but I don't see that changing any time soon.

Housing in this game is a total disaster, and the vast majority of people are not happy about it. I've had access to a FC house basically since they first released, and I purchased my personal house as soon as personal housing has come out... so a lot the major issues that has plagued housing since the beginning hasn't personally effected me, but that doesn't mean the issues haven't gone un-noticed.

I hate that people and FCs who want a house can't purchase one because not enough plots are not available. That is really demoralizing for people, esp since housing is one of the selling points of this game at this point. Auto-demolish has helped that a bit... but then you get people like the OP who lose their plot out of ignorance, and that is super demoralizing as well. And honestly, I don't blame people for not knowing there is an auto-demo timer... It's not super well advertised, and the warnings are like I said before, buried in menus which you don't go to in game. On top of that, if your house gets auto-demoed... you have 35 days to pick up your furnishings. 35 DAYS. That is a super unreasonable amount of time to have your furnishings deleted... and for those who have spent IRL money on furnishings, it would be doubly frustrating to lose them.

I'm personally good about checking my house to reset the auto-demo timer... but there are spans of time where the only reason my house hasn't gotten demoed is because I actively go in there to reset it. Besides the beginning of patches (once every 4 months when they release new furnishings) I have very little reason to actually go inside my personal house. I use my house every day for gardening, but guess what... that doesn't reset my demo timer... which is why I wish the demo timer is tied to your subscription.

There are so many more things wrong that I could start complaining about... but I won't.

And don't get me wrong, I'm not exactly against auto-demo... I think it is necessary at this point because the whole system is broken.... but that's the thing. The whole system is broken, and they really need to do something to fix it. I mean, you have people botting housing plots like it's HNMs in FFXI. It's freaking ridiculous.

Maybe adding proper instanced housing. I feel like they don't want to add any more actual wards because it effects SE's bottom line... Maybe instanced housing also costs too much for them? Idk, I'm not going to pretend like I know how much developing instanced vs adding more to existing housing effects their finances... But I'm sure there is some type of solution that would be cost effective solution for SE and also give people the housing that they desire.

1. I feel like all the plots should me either Medium or Large and only available to FCs that have a certain amount of people in it to justify owning a house. Something reasonable like 10 to 20 people at the very least.
2. Since that's not the case I feel like housing should be instanced.

The reason the housing situation is such a fiasco is because it's not instanced and everything takes place in the actual game for everyone to see, hence lots and lots of data on the external part of the wards. If anything they should completely redesign the way housing is, make it FC only and if you want something personal you should get an apartment. Obviously they would need to redesign the apartments as well to make it more appealing to have one, either the size, the internal design or something else among those lines. But the rage wave that move would cause pretty much guarantees housing will stay the same for as long this game runs.

None of these posts have to do with what happened, which is OP didn't walk into his house despite knowing full well demo timer is a thing. Throwing that out there. I personally think housing being tied to subs would be only more detrimental to housing than it is now, since less houses would rotate and less players would experience housing who actually want to use it.

I'm not worried about what happened to the OP. What is sick is the fact that people are fine with those who have legitimate concerns about losing housing in situations they cannot control get hurt just so that people like the OP who derp up a mistake get hammered too. I cannot even comprehend the reasoning for that stance.

No one in this thread mentioned any of the out of control situations but you, so... yeah not sure where that's coming from. Bad things happen in life, the devs tend to pause demo when bad enough things happen. If something besides that happens and someone loses a house, I'd wonder how important it was to them to not have someone log in and refresh the timer for them.

I'm sorry but if you don't visit the inside of your house in 30 days you probably don't deserve it. I'm so tired of going around housing disctrics and seeing people with bare bones empty houses. Like why did you even buy it if you're not going to use it.
