If it can still buff Critical Hit and Direct Hit by 60% every 2 minutes for 30 seconds like some have reported it could, it will absolutely become mandatory. Nobody will want to skip on such padding.

They will never be able to kill the meta because the meta is meta.
Well, one of their primary goals with Shadowbringers was to STOP the meta of only certain jobs. That's the reason they removed piercing/blunt/slashing and have tried to even the utility playing field.
So I doubt they will have made DNC so good that they will be required. I believe they will have balanced it with BRD and MCH.
According to theorycrafting Dancer seems a little bonkers, but time will tell. I expect that it will start out bonkers overpowered, and then when the first balance patch hits, the dev team will kill the class.
Not really, the main idea was to stop forcing certain pairs (mainly Dragon and Bard).Well, one of their primary goals with Shadowbringers was to STOP the meta of only certain jobs. That's the reason they removed piercing/blunt/slashing and have tried to even the utility playing field.

I feel like DNC and AST will be strong meta, requested for everything but it's just an impression and I could be wrong
This. Also not as impactful, but dragoon also increased red mage damage output since a few of their skills are physical piercing damage too.
Also how you would bring a ninja if you didn't have a warrior, or you would anyway so that when party splits happen, like in O12, the ninja can get paired with the not warrior.
I don't really see the concern when 5.0 "correct" openers and rotations are still at the mercy of the Almighty 10s Trick Attack window. As much as I appreciate The Balance and FFLogs for being tools to allow people to do well in the game, this is also the exact problem with it as well. Let me spoil something for you:
There will always be a meta in a multi-class game.
It is simply impossible for a developer to perfectly balance a multi-class game without getting rid of classes completely. FF14 is already homogenizing pretty heavily but over at places like The Balance, arguments are being carried on over a few percentages and a meta composition is being established. Of course that means that this community wrongly attaches to that meta believing it's "required" to do anything in the game since judgement of ones worth is so highly evaluated on your FFLog percentages and clear times. So in the end, we only have ourselves to blame over situations like requiring certain jobs.
I was thinking about that was well, but DNC has an on demand AoE heal with 400 potency, granted it has small AoE but good for stack healing. Everlasting Flight only happens when you summon Phoenix and it's only a 20 potency HoT. I'm not complaining about it, it has nice passive healing however I don't think it is worth noting that it can be used to save people. It will more than likely just overheal in raid content and SMN would have to ruin their rotation to save Flight for a healing phase. RDM does indeed have Vercure but I've never once been saved by a RDM using Vercure on me in raid. Ever. Even if I am at 2k HP and an AoE is about to come out, a RDM has never saved me. Not saying they have to, but realistically, a RDM isn't going to sacrifice a GCD to heal someone. DNC's healer on the other hand is ogcd.
Except that is an impossible task. There will always be a meta comp. The fact they gave one job all the support abilities makes it a favorable meta pick. In fact, Dancer is essentially in no man's land. If it's overall rDPS isn't enough to beat out Bard and Machinist, then it's almost worthless. If it is... then everyone wants it. There isn't much middle ground either because even if it's on par with Bard, why take Bard when Dancer offers the same thing but also increases your damage? It's the same issue White Mage was plagued with throughout Stormblood. People always wanted cards for their own personal damage. What saved White Mage from completely falling off is it's ease of play and the fact we only have three healers. DPS do not have that luxury. Case in point, Samurai is not actually bad. It just can't measure up to the utility of Dragoon and Ninja. So no one wants it.Well, one of their primary goals with Shadowbringers was to STOP the meta of only certain jobs. That's the reason they removed piercing/blunt/slashing and have tried to even the utility playing field.
So I doubt they will have made DNC so good that they will be required. I believe they will have balanced it with BRD and MCH.
