    Job Story for 5.0

So with the job storyline changes, how do you think they may play out story/lore wise?

From what I we know so far...

    1) Job Role Quests are REQUIRED! So players must complete at least 1 of the job Role Storyline to progress in the Main Scenario Quests but ONLY ONE.

    2) there are 4 different Job Role Quests being Tank, Healer, DPS Melee, and DPS Range.

    3) Only new Job quest will be unlocked on level 80 only.

I believe Yoshi-P stated in an interview that the level 80 job quests play out like "We've been on the First doing darkness shenanigans, let's go back to the Source and see how our Job guys are holding up". I've also heard that the level 80 job quests will be relatively longer to make up for the fact there is only 1 job quest. Also, in regards to Role Quest divisions, it is not DPS Range and Melee, but DPS Physical and Magic. The slide from Live Letter 51 introducing them had a picture of a tank, a healer, a ranged physical and a caster to illustrate the point.

I wonder how they're going to explain MCH's sudden thematic shift from marksman to gadgeteer.

Throughout the lvl 30-60 MCH quests, it is implied that Stephanavien, the job tutor, is constantly making new toys for you to experiment with. It never specifies what KIND of toys though. So you are simply replacing the gauss barrel and bishop auto turret with the other things MCH gets now, such as Drill.

I'm keen to learn how we're going to explain a Demi-Phoenix away... Goes from "Nobody must ever learn of this..." in Coil, to "Lets show everyone!" with SMN 80... Then again, I don't recall Demi-Bahamut having much in the way of an explanation, when it really should have something... The Calamity was such a major traumatic event, I wonder how many PTSD episodes Summoners have triggered just carelessly throwing Demi-Bahamut about...

Also, I'm just now realizing that there are 4 Role Questlines, following the history of the Warriors of "Darkness"... I may need to revise my current theory... Crystal of Earth for Tanks, Crystal of Water for Healers, Crystal of Fire for Melee, and Crystal of Wind for Ranged... Oh yes I can see them doing something like that...

Didn't Arbert have the Crystal of Fire? I guess it depends on if the tank storyline follows him, or if he acts as the leader and the quests follow Blanhaerz.

A couple of others have already mentioned it but the explanation is easy enough. For those closest to the SMN but not quite in the know Phoenix's aether was mixed in with Bahamut's, thus the SMN is just as linked to Phoenix as they are to Bahamut. And only might need explaining if the SMN themselves know about Phoenix's connection to Bahamut's defeat given that you won't need to beat t12 to access it.

Meanwhile anyone outside of that small circle will just see the SMN using a new summon and at best be "thats so cool" or "Arrrrgh I'm on fire!" and not "OMG Phoenix was the one who beat Bahamut and was also Louisoix!" Plus the fact that in-story the SMN probably doesn't call Bahamut out in the middle of a residential area to test on a dummy.

But aren't we WoL Summoners a "special someone", like other Summoners are more likely advanced Arcanists but we were the one who had a special interaction with Bahamut (and Phenix too) so we are the "only one" able to channel these Demi-Primals? I don't see the mastering of Demi- summoning like a well spread learning.
Anyway I'm curious because (at least until level 60) SMN had quite a focused quest series, we were walking the patch of getting the "ultimate" ability. Here it's gonna sound like "Hennlo Ymithra, check out mah fire birb"

As far as 'special ineraction' with Bahamut and Phoenix goes... the Dreadwyrm trance is explained to be possible due to all of Eorzea being doused in his aether in the Calamity, and we are just learning how to 'attune' to that aether. Firebird trance can be a similar thing, due to Phoenix being present at the same time as Bahamut. As for the actual summoning of Demi's.... the only nuggets we get about that is that Prin teaches us an 'advanced summoning technique' before it enters hibernation and that 'Demi-x' enemies appear during the instance we fight on Seal Rock. I was hoping that the Encyclopaedia Eorzea Volume II would have had a bit more context to add regarding Demi summoning, but I don't have it, and none of the people who do have said anything about it.

The second volume doesn't go into it at all, the part for Jobs is mostly about the weapons and armors. We might see more in Volume III but who knows.
