The second volume doesn't go into it at all, the part for Jobs is mostly about the weapons and armors. We might see more in Volume III but who knows.

Yeah, I'm not expecting vol 3 to do anything for older jobs beyond give some lore on their AF4 weapons/armor. Gun Breaker and Dancer of course will get the full breakdown but I don't expect any big revisits to old jobs.

Though it is a little funny now that some of the spells that once got detailed in the lore books like Flash are going away now. Or at least Flash is I haven't checked to see if it's the only case or not.

I actually did this recently after remembering the Flash entry, lol. Flash, Manwall, Leeches, and Gauss Barrel are the casualties with entries in the first Encyclopedia.

I mean, the WoL doesn't have to have battled it. Just have been "exposed to its aether upon its death". That's the explanation as to how a SMN who has never done Coil is able to summon Demi-Bahamut - they were in Eorzea when the Calamity occurred.

Who else was present at the Calamity, and (apparently) died and dispersed its Aether afterwards? Phoenix!

Now, admittedly, there's apparently some strange amnesia shenanigans going around, and that's why no one mentions Phoenix, or is able to give any details as to what happened at the Calamity. So the conversation might go:

NPC: When did you fight Phoenix?
Me: I didn't. I was immersed in its Aether during the Calamity.
NPC: I don't remember Phoenix at the Calamity!
Me: I doubt you remember much of anything about the Calamity, just like anyone else.
NPC: So how do YOU know Phoenix was there?
Me: Echo.
NPC: ...oh, okay.

I honestly would like this format of 1 long role quest instead of multiple quests unlocked at certain levels. just finished the DRK quest up to 70 and I think the pacing suffered quite a bit :/

Also, imo, the job quests in SB felt kind of... underwhelming regarding its own dramatic development... It's like, part 1: kill some things... part 2: return to the NPC to kill a couple more things... The real important events always happening at the last phases, close and at level 70. I suppose one big well written quest can achieve a similar result.
