I'd rather have auto-unmount when using any action than have instant cast mounts. Way more annoying.

The point is to not have a specific keybind for it and reduce the number of keys you have to press.
Approaching a mob you want to attack and you're mounted? Just press whatever ability you want to start with and poof it unmounts you and cast it.

It has a specific keybind as a matter of safety. You can't re-mount once you're in combat. The dismount key protects you from activating an instant action against a mob unintentionally, forcing you to the ground, and preventing you from mounting again.
Error 3102 Club, Order of the 52nd Hour
It really bothers some for a few second cast timer?
It doesn't for me. Remember you call your mount with a whistle or horn so yeah, animation.
Don't remove it i like it.

Mounts are effectively magic anyway, unless you assume that we all have some chocobos, a few horses, some lizards, some mecha, a car, an airship, a bird or two, and the king of dragons just kinda lurking off-screen waiting for us to whistle. Maybe that cast time is for all of them to figure out which one you're trying to call.
Just be glad it's not like early WoW where you had to keep the whistle in your bag to use it.

I remember that having to keep actual mounts in your bag, with WoW classic everyone will be able to re experience thatMounts are effectively magic anyway, unless you assume that we all have some chocobos, a few horses, some lizards, some mecha, a car, an airship, a bird or two, and the king of dragons just kinda lurking off-screen waiting for us to whistle. So much irony in one point. Got to love it.
