The 'unwritten rule' for non-tank pulls in dungeons

Why do we even have to ask. The way the two of you talk you clearly understand how to hold aggro so why aren't you pulling wall to wall. Why do I need to ask you to do your job to your upmost so I can do mine. if anyone is disrespectful its the two of you.

First its not about how i tank. And how am i being disrespectful?

As I've said many times if i see the healer is struggling or the dps clearly can't handle burning down large groups I'm not going to do wall to wall.

Now if an impatient dps pulls after I've slower down being it bad dps or healer just struggles to.keep me alive or would rather play green dps they can tank them its that simple.

if you dont have the common decency to use your mouth before raining down your own brand of divine retribution, then I see no need to be respectful in the first place, either. What you said here is literally throwing a tantrum. "I dont wanna talk! you're being stupid!" ...You're not a toddler.

If youre not even considerate enough to your tank to write a single sentence, then in what world would you expect any consideration from them?


the sad thing here is this is easily reversed; why should i pull wall to wall and do my upmost when you cant be bothered to your job and actually kill them in a reasonable amount of time? Your job's alot easier than mine in mass AoE. Why am i using 2 ramparts in a single pull? If anyone is disrespectful it's you.

It's almost as if the concept is so simple that it's one the first things a human learns to do.

A Tank's main responsibilities in a dungeon is to control the enmity of the mobs, which pulling is a part of. So a tank should have more say in pulling/threat control over the other party members and its not an equal responsibility with the DPS/Healers. To say that 1 person is trying to hold power over 3 people is disingenuous because that 1 person does have more power when it comes to pulling and enmity, but has no control over the dps's contribution to damage or the healers.

I play all roles and does big pulls whenever I tank but I'll never be so rude to overstep into other people's role and demand they play in a style that I wish, if they want to pull hard when I'm healing, go for it, if they want to pull small when I'm dps, that is fine too.

To all the people saying in normal dungeons the tank is the least needed role, try to queue a dg without one (you can't because the DF needs you to have one) or make a PF without one (and see how long that takes to fill up.). Even if you get a group you won't be able to proceed with your mass pulls because your dps can't keep the mobs off the healer and you can't take a TB from any boss on most dungeons.

Of course all these are only an issue if you don't communicate and instead just keep silent and try to force others to play the way you want to play.

Well, as a Healer, I always run the the last pack of mobs regardless. Tank stops at the 1st group? That's nice. If you want heals I'll be at the next pack.

Lol if you did that to me and the dps take too long to kill even 1 pack you can tank and dps all of those mobs too.

I think the other side of this is if healer spends too much time dpsing or the tank feels his hp is being allowed to drop too low than they are used to they not gonna trust the heals (which if your an experienced tank you know what I mean when your hp gets low cus they are just waiting to do a huge cure/bene/etc} and do big pulls that being said apparently that wont be an issue for too much longer as from the way I seen it most dps healers are quitting healing in shadowbringers.

But end of the day yeah use your words doesn't hurt to say your new or you don't feel good about doing big pulls end of the day we all started somewhere and people tend to forget that day one it was expected for tanks to sac pull in wanders palace. . . . yeah that's right people were too lazy to even bother killing mobs and that's how we ended up with gates everywhere.

Then good luck with the tank queue. It's a rare proc, and this current negative mentality towards tanks is the exact reason why.

And tank queue is also the exact reason so many Tanks believe they are above everybody else. This sense entitlement is of such a magnitude that you see this being posted everywhere: "If I get kicked, I'll just get an insta-queue again while the rest of the group have to wait "forever" for another tank". If that's not the most selfish, narcissistic thing in this game, I don't know what is.

Thankfully (and hopefully) with the addition of a new Tank job, things will not be as simple anymore. Bad tanks will actually be forced to cease believing the party to be their hostages and actually run the content in whatever pace the group decides to since, with their precious tank queue gone, maybe they'll try to be a team player or getting kicked might actually result in losing a lot of time now.
