You do you. Not everyone here is as kick happy or self centered as some people are around here.

The part i'm a little aghast at is that poster condones that particular reaction as not only OK but appropriate. I get other people will run as they will and i even accept that if I don't run a dungeon fast enough i might get kicked. I don't ever think "LRN 2..." responses are ever ok though especially when responding to polite or at least civil requests.

In theory I agree with you pull it you tank it, but generally when someone else pulls I find it's a dps and if I DON'T pull it off the dps it's just gonna go after the healer when they start healing the dps so I just pick it up.

But as others have said, if a tank is going to slow, SAY SOMETHING don't just start pulling for them. It's really annoying.

I generally do double/wall-to-wall pulls in anything level capped (leveling dungeons are a mixed bag and it kinda depends on the dungeon/group), but if the party clearly isn’t able to handle the pulls due to either gear or just general reluctance to it, nothing wrong with that in my opinion as long as people are pulling their effort; I’ll just go at a more reasonable pace for the group. I only have an issue if someone gets fussy and does the nonsense of grabbing mobs ahead and pulling them back to me without saying anything or getting all passive-aggressive about it. I’ll grab them, but I’m not going to be happy over it since it’s probably stressing one of the other people that asked for a smaller pull.

In the case of leveling dungeons I think it’s better to play it safe depending on what it is. In a month there’s going to be essentially another Bardam’s and in cases like that, I’d rather go slow for the first few times around. I’m not a great tank main to be honest (even after quite a few years of doing it across MMOs), but I’d rather have a run go smoothly rather than be a mess because there’s one person who’s impatient. Obviously if big pulls throughout the whole dungeon are good for the group, then great, I’ll do that and everything is fine. But I feel like being flexible over these things helps more than sticking to a single mindset above all else.

Generally it’s a good idea and a decent thing to let the tank pull at their pace. Some tanks will pull wall to wall, others will take it a mob or two at a time. You dont know what is going on with the other members unless communication happens.

If you as a tank are asked to either pull more or pull less pending your group, have enough self respect and respect for your group to explain your decision. If you are willing to do as they ask tell em sure and give it a whirl. If it goes bad you tried if not then all is good.

Communication is the key part of all of this. Talk to your group and adjust as needed. If after communication people try to force you to pull more than you are comfortable with you have two options. Let them tank it or adapt and grab that aggro as well. After the pull feel free to stop and say something. If you get kicked. You are a tank they either move on without you or they sit around waiting for a new tank to join, and you move on to hopefully groups that better suit your playstyle.

Exactly. As long as your party is fine with it, go ahead.

If they're not, though, you have no choice but to follow the party's wishes or get kicked.

People love to make things complected.

It is the tanks duty to pull and hold enmity, not yours. Focus on your primary role and let the rest of the party focus on theirs.
At the end of the day, it is just a simple duty. Don't make it harder than it should be.

Tanks can be slow for multiple reasons.
    - New to the role/inexperienced.
    - New to the dungeon.
    - Under geared.
    - Disabilities.

If these things don't matter to you, then prepare for potential wipes.
Don't blame your tank if you do wipe. It was your action that caused it. Your action, you take responsibility for it.

If you do not like being with a slow tank you have two options:
    1) You kick the tank.
    2) You leave the party.

But the best option would be:
    3) You adapt to your slow tank.

If I am tanking and you pull as a dps, I am going to call you out on it and if you continue doing it I am going to either kick you or leave.
It's extremely frustrating and shows disrespect for the tank imo.

As a tank one of your jobs is to make sure that everyone is there and ready, a lot of the time when it's a dps just running in and pulling we get killed because I've noticed that the healer is afk.
And even if that isn't the case it's still annoying, and there's no reason to do it even because I don't pull slowly to begin with.

'' If you pull it, you tank it '' is my attitude but I don't let people die if they do it the first time.
I'll probably only let them die the third time, because at that point I know that they're not listening and won't stop.

As a healer main, please do not pull big in Brayflox normal. It is the worst 1-50 dungeon to heal in the duty finder because tanks want to try and pull big there which means the healer will sometimes go through the whole dungeon with no mp I especially love those times when the tank initiates the boss fight when the healer has 1/3 mp, and lucid's on cooldown ahaha ... *cries in white mage*

When I'm tanking I don't mind if you pull for me, it just means I'm probably going too slow for the group

It has always been a bit of an unwritten rule that the tank should be the one pulling. Always. In FF XI however some pulls required someone else to do it for them and bring back mobs to the tank to...you know, tank.

I'm one of those people who will probably follow the "you pull it, you tank it" motto as Gunbreaker unless it's someone I know who tends to mess with me anyway. All in good fun though. Did the same in WoW when I tanked for a time, and more than a few people learned a hard lesson and there were no issues afterwards.

I'm a reasonable guy and a forgiving one. I understand things happen like facepulls and tab target fails. I've been there as a dps more times than I can count. In those cases I will pick it up and we can continue on our merry way. Or wipe and continue on our merry way if it ends poorly. But I don't tolerate having people intentionally pull for me as a tank. I will shut that crap down. No exceptions.
