Just found this in an interview done around the time of last years Vegas fan fest. Thought I'd pass this along for anyone tat hasn't seen it. XD

Original Interview

Press: What is your official stance on player-run “brothels,” wherein two consenting players have cybersex in exchange for in-game currency? [This was a contentious question, and one that Yoshida seemed blindsided by. -Ed]

Yoshida: First of all, there is a user agreement that all players have to agree to before they can even start playing Final Fantasy XIV. Within that user agreement is a clause that prohibits any unacceptable conduct to this end, including behavior that infringes upon laws. Any players who violate those rules will be punished by banning or other penalties. This applies no matter which end of the exchange a player is on. Everyone who plays Final Fantasy XIV is subject to investigation for violating the terms of service, period. Because Final Fantasy XIV is a worldwide game, there is the potential for players from many different regions to interact with one another, and we have legal support available to assist us in investigations to this end in many countries. If you see someone engaging in this type of behavior, we ask you to report it.

Yoshida is surprisingly left winged for someone that doesn’t live in the U.S. That’s pretty rare, haha. Very interesting interview, but also very pointless. It’s not like anyone gets banned for that crap anyways.

I mean it is relevant to the topic I brought up? Just thought I'd share it so others could see it if they wish. And it isn't that old as it still speaks in regards to Shadowbringers no matter how you look at it. Some interviews that get done do end up going unseen.

They'd have to raise the ESRB rating to A for adult content if they endorsed this behavior. Kind of kills a decent portion of your potential customer base.

IIRC the question is from last year's fan fest, and was asked by a media outlet with little to no knowledge of FFXIV or the community. I recall at the time it was widely regarded as a waste of a question during a short Q&A session and a waste of Yoshida's (and the translator's) time in answering it.

Why is this a thread? The entire answer from Yoshida is COMPLETELY on the subject of ingame currency part. Yoshida and the entire GM group don't care if you're ERPing aslong as said person isn't underage.
