Cannot get collectables to 450

I am a botanist at Level 61 with mostly level 61 gear and 602 gathering and 610 perception. But I cannot get collectables to level 450. For example, on Beech Branch if I do Methodical Appraisal, Discerning Eye, Methodical Appraisal, Methodical Appraisal it goes, 87, 217, 304 and 391 so in this case I did not even get to 450 and that Appraisal to 391 dropped the item to 30%. I have tried using Single Mind or Impulsive Appraisal but the item still drops to 30% before I get to 450.

Also, at my level it took 4 hits to uncover some of these items so I really have to use Toil of the Pioneer but gp is not really my issue. If I only get 3 Appraisals I need an 'average' of 120 on each one and I am no where near that.

Do I need more Gathering and perception, which really means getting my botanist to level 63 or level 65?

Multiple ways of getting the easy 450 appraisal, but sounds like you might want to consider picking up food and better gear with materia overmelding (if it isn't already). Aside from that, you could potentially take yourself up to level 65 and try again if that becomes an issue. It SHOULDNT be an issue, but it can happen. Most of the 450 appraisals should be pushing you well into the 510 range if maxed at at level 60 base.

You probably need more GPs too.

600 minimum, 650 is much better, 800 rocks but not attainable at your level.

Impulsive II, single utmost impulsive II, single impulsive II, methodical.

In GPs that's 0, 200 200 0, 200 0, 0. if you have 650 sharp vision before gathering.

Impulsive Appraisal II
Increases item rarity by perception x0.9.
Increases item wear by 10.
Additional Effect:
30% - 100% chance Discerning Eye activates.
Percentage determined by your perception rating.
Uses one gathering attempt.

Thanks. I read the reddit link and they say I should be getting 172 per Discerning plus Methodical. I am at 130 so what perception do I need to get 172? (I am at 610 perception)

Agree about the gp > 600. I will work on that if I can attain the correct amount of perception first.

I don't know what perception is needed but HQ konpeito = perception 7% max 68, GPs 4% max 21.

Has anyone figured out the calculation the game uses to get the numbers generated because it is not 1x the perception score like it says in game
