    1. Which is your current/main/favorite role (tank, healer, dps) in FFXIV?
Currently maining AST (Has been since the class launched)
    2. Are you considering trying out or changing to a different role for the launch of Shadowbringers?
Yes, I unfortunately am changing roles for Shadowbringers
    3. If so, which role are you considering? Any particular job for that role?
    DNC
    4. Are you switching because: A) don't like changes to you current role/associated jobs, B) really like changes to other role, C) a job in another role looks much more appealing/exciting, D) just need a change of pace, E) other
    A and C.
    5. If you are tempted to try something different or change roles but are hesitant, what is holding you back?
If I am hesitant about anything. That would be trying the tank role. I just feel I am not fit for it.

I reckon I'll do the same thing I do every expansion... level a tank a healer and a dps.. I roll dice to decide which then if I get bored of those level something else until I find a trifecta I enjoy using and stick with them for the rest of the expansion.

I will still play AST but I will definitely main DNC and probably try the DRK and GNB.

    1. Which is your current/main/favorite role (tank, healer, dps) in FFXIV?

    Healer WHM/AST

    2. Are you considering trying out or changing to a different role for the launch of Shadowbringers?

    Yes

    3. If so, which role are you considering? Any particular job for that role?

    Range. Dancer

I wanted to play dancer and when the announced it as a range DPS I decided to switch. I changed to Bard immediately in preparation to be a DPS main.

    5. If you are tempted to try something different or change roles but are hesitant, what is holding you back?

Not hesitant I've been maining as DPS since the last fan fest and I love it. I doubt I will go back to healer main but I will level them up. It is so much fun learning how to improve my DPS.

    1. Which is your current/main/favorite role (tank, healer, dps) in FFXIV?

Healer and DPS. Specifically AST, WHM and BRD.

    2. Are you considering trying out or changing to a different role for the launch of Shadowbringers?

I'm going to test out the changes made to my classes I play the most (AST/WHM/BRD) and then branch out from there to understand ALL the class changes.

    3. If so, which role are you considering? Any particular job for that role?

Like almost everyone else, I'm curious as to what DNC is all about. I'm also interested in whether or not MCH will be a class that I can finally pay attention to.

    4. Are you switching because: A) don't like changes to you current role/associated jobs, B) really like changes to other role, C) a job in another role looks much more appealing/exciting, D) just need a change of pace, E) other

Other; not really sold on anything yet until I get it in my hands to test out.

    5. If you are tempted to try something different or change roles but are hesitant, what is holding you back?

There are just a LOT of changes to the battle system that is going to take some getting used to to answer this question logically. I'm more interested in the whole "pure healer" aspect of things when it comes to AST and WHM and how the damage/heals will work in real time.

    Tank.

    Nope.

    3. If so, which role are you considering? Any particular job for that role?
I'll be playing all the classes, but Tank will always be my main role in the majority of MMOs I play.

    5. If you are tempted to try something different or change roles but are hesitant, what is holding you back?

    1. Which is your current/main/favorite role (tank, healer, dps) in FFXIV?

    Main/favorite: Healer. White Mage.
    Secondary: Dps - Red Mage.

    2. Are you considering trying out or changing to a different role for the launch of Shadowbringers?

Not really, I've been a white mage main since 2.0 launch. If I don't like the way WHM feels after all the changes (which I don't see why I wouldn't, seems whm got off the best out of the three), then maybe. Or if I absolutely adore dancer.

    3. If so, which role are you considering? Any particular job for that role?

Not thinking to switch but I will be trying out dancer. If I LOVE it with a burning passion then maybe but I don't foresee that being the case. Especially because there's bound to be so many of them that it'll be hard to find a group.

    4. Are you switching because: A) don't like changes to you current role/associated jobs, B) really like changes to other role, C) a job in another role looks much more appealing/exciting, D) just need a change of pace, E) other

    N/A

    So beyond the OP...

As someone considering trying a new role/job, looking for opinions/advice.

If you *were* trying a new role/job and were really foggy on most of the boss mechanics, would you want to:

    A. Ask an FC to help do run of content with you while you learn to get support/advice

    B. Find/create a "take it easy/learning" linkshell?

    C. Keep putting up "role/job learning" party finder groups as you level/learn to find people willing to explain/be patient

    D. Just jump into DF a lot and do your best

(yes of course you can look up guides but that can only go so far, so this is in addition fpr actual live practice/guidance)

Thanks for helping make the FFXIV community a fun and welcoming place. If you're not sure you have (and you very likely have), make it a point to be patient or helpful the next time you log in so that you can know you've made a difference.

If you're on the Aether data center, congratulations! I might be your next exciting adventure healer in the Duty Finder. Please look forward to it.

As a DPS main, I would just run dungeon with any new job I'm trying. I mostly level tank jobs via MSQ, trial, and raid roulettes, though I've been known to do dungeons as a tank as well. For healer jobs, I've only run a synced dungeon once on WHM with 2 other FC friends, but mostly I level via beast tribe quests and fates in the past as I don't really like to heal.

By "boss mechanics" do you mean job mechanics (the question doesn't seem to make sense in context otherwise)?

My usual approach to learning a new job is to start with a striking dummy. I'll look up the optimal opener for it and practice 'til I can do it reliably. This gets me accustomed to where the skills are so I can hit them without thinking and highlights any glaring issues with how my hotbars are laid out. Openers are good for this since they're usually the most action-intensive part of the fight.
After that I would start taking the job into dungeons. There's not a huge amount to keep track of and if I mess up a mechanic it probably won't have major consequences. I take doing the mechanics seriously though, since the point is to practice being able to do the job mechanics while also handling fight mechanics. If I can, I'll ask friends to run with me that have experience with the job/role in question so I can ask them live in the moment if I encounter a situation where the best thing to do isn't immediately apparent.
So I guess in answer to your question, a combination of D and A.
