Changing Roles for 5.0?

1. Tank, mainly Warrior with a little bit of PLD and DRK.

2. I love tanking in this game so gonna stick with it till the end.

3. Gonna switch to GNB for ShB. Been maining WAR since ARR and I think it's time I put down this old trusted Axe for something new a bit.

4. D, GNB playstyle just look so much fun to me.

5. When I get bored I usually switch to DRG, RDM, MNK, and MCH but I never really want to main DPS. No interest in playing Healer.

SCH has been my main all of SB, so healer is my main role.

2. Are you considering trying out or changing to a different role for the launch of Shadowbringers?
Yes

3. If so, which role are you considering? Any particular job for that role?
I'm going to try dps as a BRD, and that will probably be my first job to level.

4. Are you switching because: A) don't like changes to you current role/associated jobs, B) really like changes to other role, C) a job in another role looks much more appealing/exciting, D) just need a change of pace, E) other
Don't get me wrong, I still plan to level my SCH. I just want to try something new, and I'm skeptical about the healing changes. If SCH still feels good it'll probably still end up being my main.

5. If you are tempted to try something different or change roles but are hesitant, what is holding you back?
I always think I want to try tanking, because I enjoy WAR as a class very much. But tanking stresses me out, because I feel like I am pressured to know everything because people follow the tank in dungeons. I usually level the tank role last.

2. Yes.

3. DPS. Black Mage and Dancer.

4. Not crazy about the direction healers are going in and looking for a change of pace. Since Shadowbringers allows you to do the dungeons with AI players, it's the perfect opportunity to play through the story as a DPS without worrying about queue times.

2. Yes.
3. Tank role. Will level all tanks and pick my favourite out of them. Dark Knight and Paladin for starters.

I've always been an altaholic, to the point of keeping all roles near or above the levels of new crafter gear tiers -- save for when taking a break from the game.

But, unless GNB is leaps and bounds more fun than it appears, I'll likely pass on both tanking and healing come Shadowbringers, and just do DPS. That and take far more breaks. Maybe my alt character will eventually grab PLD, idk.

1. I have 4 characters, each does a different role and all are about equally progressed / geared... So... Miqote Warrior, Au'Ra White Mage, Elezen Bard, Hyur Ninja

2. Yep but nope because I'm already maining all 4 roles. Historically the tank was most often a main, but since Heavensward I've made a point of keeping all 4 current with each other.

3. Tank, Heals, ranged DPS, melee. Likely to do this in the expac:

Miqote Warrior (I never got into Paladin here, the Dark Knight story was so horrible I didn't finish leveling it until near end expac and kind of still want to avoid it, and gunbreaker just bugs me conceptually),
Au'Ra Black Mage - Curious to try out caster DPS more. WoW actually soured me on maining a healer, not the 5.0 changes...
Viera Dancer - and presently set to be in a raid group with the Viera Dancer so that might make for having a 'main' for a bit.
Hyur Monk - I have repeated intended to focus on this, and repeatedly failed to level monk. My Hyur Monk is level 68 right now... so... maybe this time...

4. Way back in City of Heroes I mained Corruptor and a Dominator - support classes. I've not seen a true support class in an MMO since that game went down. I am hoping Dancer comes closer to actual support than other attempts have done. Across multiple MMOs I find it is extremely difficult to find raid spots if you're a tank. And that hit me again this time. People don't start recruiting for raids until after they fill the tank spots. Current raid - one of the tanks is new to the role, but as usual, they didn't announce the raid to the rest of the FC until after they'd filled the two tank spots and 3 of the DPS...

It's very easy to find things to do as a PUG tank, but getting into a static only happens after a core member leaves - and I find most statics dissolve if they lose a tank rather than try and recruit, something I've encountered over and over again through the years (been playing MMOs since 2005 - as a tank for most of that).

And those times I do manage to get into the tank spot on a roster... usually by convincing an abandoned raid to reform now that I'm there... (seriously...) some fool insists on making me an officer in their guild / FC and I end up having to listen to personal drama at 3am in Discord every... single... night... I actually stopped 'maining tanks' in WoW when BfA hit... using that as an excuse to get out of those 3am drunk-dialed-Discord-rants... and then quit the game anyway not long after... Despite playing Dragoon in BfA WoW which was actually fun (yeah... they turned one of the Hunter spec's into a low-poly clone of Dragoon...), the game just was otherwise... not there anymore...

But... if Dancer lives up to being a true support, I'll be OK with the whole absurd dynamic regarding tanks and statics vs pugs. And that means that for 5.0; I am going to try to actually have a main in an MMO for the first time since... 2007.

1) Samurai DPS main, War Tank secondary

2) No. Will continue with Sam as my main. They just took a well built class and made things better, though I'm not a fan of all changes or abilities. Will switch my tank to Drk or Gnb.

3) See end of 2.

4) I like Warrior now for its huge HP pool and because I find Drk awkward (Dark Arts spam) and Pld boring. New Drk and Gnb both look fun.

5) Nothing. I'm willing to try anything I'm interested in.

If I am hesitant about anything. That would be trying the tank role. I just feel I am not fit for it.
