I can't wait to try SMN, SCH, AST and MCH. The changes look really fun, more intuitive and seem to give them a real job identity.
The one I'm not motivated to try is BRD. I dunno the job looks so unappealing to me for some reason....

Really looking forward for DNC.
it will be DNC>BRD>SMN/SCH>WHM for me at first.
I'm excited for white mage the most. I'm pretty stoked for the new visual changes: no more wind gusts and giant rocks. I like the changes they made to the lily system too. Instant healing tools that don't cost MP are always gonna be a great thing. White mage was my main during heavensward msq, but then I mained monk for stormblood. I'm probably gonna main white mage again for shadowbringers.
Also excited for the new machinist changes. Kinda bummed out that monk lost internal release, howling fist, and that the stun was removed from shoulder tackle. I still love monk though so I will be playing it.
I was looking forward to DRK until I found out they got a copy of Inner Release. If I liked that play style I would have played WAR. Now I'm not sure which tank is going to be the most fun and fast paced but I'm interested in trying out GNB the most.
BRD, DNC, SMN, SCH and WHM are next in line. I didn't like how the pets and lilies worked before.
As usual I have no interest in melee jobs.

MSQ
Viper
I am going to play all the tank jobs.
Also i am going to try out healing, maybe a SCH or WHM.
Even though I don't like all the changes, I'm still looking forward to playing WHM, SCH and AST. Especially WHM and SCH.
I'm also looking forward to the new SMN. Right now I'm not really a fan of it, but the changes look nice and change the things that I don't like about SMN. Now if they didn't have books as weapons...
MCH looks nice with the new stuff, but I liked having the turret out all the time and also the reloads. I won't play it much anyway, but if I play a ranged DPS then maybe MCH first. I'll also try out DNC though to see how it will be.
Until now my favorite tank was DRK (despite Dark Arts spam). But I do not like the lvl 80 ability at all, it's so cringe-worthy. Fray was cool, yes, but having him appear in battle and fighting with you is so weird. I don't want to summon a person (or shadow of it or whatever). Maybe I'll try out PLD as my first tank. I don't like having a shield and I much prefer the DRK animations, but the new spells look kind of nice. Or I'll try out GNB. WAR is nice too, but the animations don't fit my character so well.
It seems like a cop out or a good feels hype answer, but I'd like to try them all. Hard to choose an order to try them in though, because I'm a tourist style player in MMOs. I vacation in one MMO, get through some content, then move to the next destination.
For example, I've spent 70% of my time on WHM, 29% on SCH, and 1% on all other jobs combined since starting this game during Heavensward. WHM is a great option for a tourist player because it's simple and forgiving, meaning if I am forgetful about a fight or out of practice in general it's easier to jump back into and still do OK with that job (covers up your lapses nicely). SCH and AST are OK but the 3.x and 4.x versions allowed for more loads more optimization and management which a tourist doesn't really need.
On the other hand, tank jobs require actually learning lots of fights in some details to understand when to use CDs and how/where to move/face the boss in each encounter. And dps jobs require learning and practicing rotations, which in some cases can be somewhat complex and also punishing if you mess up and have to start over. Tanks and dps jobs are much less tourist friendly.
Naturally then with the most experience as a healer I will be drawn to doing those jobs first in Shadowbringers, especially given the controversy around the changes. But then I have to decide whether and how to jump into something else. I did get the ARR and HW dps jobs to 50 last summer, despite thoroughly forgetting how to play them since, so those aren't too far from 70.
I think MCH always sounded fun but everyone has complained about it since forever, while I have SMN at 70 because it shares a base class with SCH, but looking at the SMN rotation used to make my eyes cross. MNK is aesthetically pleasing but apparently one of the most demanding dps jobs. And so on and so on. And I only know the tank jobs by name, so
It seems like the start of an expansion is a great time to try a new job or role, but I honestly don't have any idea where to start![]()
Thanks for helping make the FFXIV community a fun and welcoming place. If you're not sure you have (and you very likely have), make it a point to be patient or helpful the next time you log in so that you can know you've made a difference.
If you're on the Aether data center, congratulations! I might be your nextexciting adventurehealer in the Duty Finder. Please look forward to it.
I'm most definitely excited for DNC and SMN.
I'm most definitely NOT excited for SCH and AST. I feel these two jobs have been ruined as far as distinction and fun factor go.
GUNBLADE/GUNBREAKER definitely. Although MCH interests me as well. as for the rest Nah
I tank to live.
I live to tank.
With the tanking changes, I might return to my WAR. With the previous system, I always had heavy anxiety when it came to the stances and trying to stance dance. So with the new changes, I feel like I can tank and not have that nagging pressure that makes me feel like I'm being silently judged as a bad tank, despite doing well on my runs.
Outside of that, I'm gonna stick with AST and probably level my SMN and NIN after completing the story for ShB.
