There hasn't been a single AF set for any job that I've liked.
There hasn't been a single AF set for any job that I've liked.
DRG
ARR: Favourite set. It's simple and elegant.
HW: Aside from the chest (dear god, those appendages on my hips), decent set.
SB: Non-movable visor? Unacceptable. Otherwise in the same tier as HW.
ShB: Not overly keen on it, but it's starting to grow on me.
AST
HW: I really love this set. Especially the hat.
SB: Didn't think it could get much cooler, but it did! I love this one, probably my favorite AF set.
ShB: Ehhh... Looks like if you mashed the first two sets together but worse?
WHM
Legacy/ARR: Of course, this set will always have a special place in my heart. I was so excited when I got it in 1.0, even if it's not all that fancy.
HW: ...No. Just no.
SB: Much better. Really cute!
ShB: Ehhh... It reminds me a lot of the HW one but better. Not as good as SB.
SCH
ARR, HW, SB, ShB: I have never liked a single piece of the AF that SCH gets, unfortunately.
DRK
HW, SB, ShB: All the sets are pretty good.
PLD
2.0 Sucks
3.0 Meh
4.0 Loved it
5.0 Can't wait to have it
SCH
They all look awful
MNK
2.0 Good
3.0 Weird
4.0 My favorite
5.0 Decent
RDM
4.0 Amazing
5.0 An awful copy from 4.0?
MCH
3.0 Love it
4.0 Meh
5.0 Meh x2
BRD
ARR: Meh, didn't really care for it. Not saying it's bad or anything, but it's not anything that'd make me look twice. I've never actually worn this set.
HW: It had to grow on me, but when it did I was absolutely in love with it.
SB: The best one, no contest.
ShB: Eh, it might be one of those things that has to grow on me. It looks very western to me and is lacking colour. Might fit the theme of ShB, but I like to be colourful as a bard :x
SAM
SB: I understand the styling and aesthetic of this one, but I've never really liked being melee and fighting in really long robes. It's a meh for me.
ShB: This is probably my favourite AF4 gear set that I've seen. I can't wait to wear this. It looks BAMF and it reminds me of Auron, who just so happens to be my favourite FF character. Sam is definitely getting priority for me to level to 80 based on this outfit alone.
DRK
HW: No complaints here, it's the bread and butter set. Was thirsty to level up dark knight just so I could wear that outfit (and was pleasantly surprised when I ended up really enjoying dark knight).
SB: Best set. I felt like a complete beast in this outfit, and I actually liked the helmet, too, which is super rare for me!
ShB: It's too... Round? Honestly, it feels incredibly boring compared to the brilliance of the other two sets. I really don't like that sword, either.
PLD
arr: nice simple
hw: too flashy i dont like the colors together they just clash with eachother
sb: almost perfect the only piece i dont really like is the hat
shb: my favorite so far it looks regal but practical too
DRG
arr: iconic but its too skinny for me
hw: better than the arr one if only it dyed better
sb: my favorite its bulkier than the other and it dyes nicely
shb: im not the biggest fan
MCH
hw: i lie it it fits the theme of machinist very well and it accounts for the aetherpack well
sb: feels like a dumbed down version of the hw set
shb: i love it it just looks abit bare it looks like it was intended to have a jacket but they removed it later
I main WHM, and as someone who plays a male character, and a Roe [future Hrothgar] to boot, I just want to say I'm really, really glad for the gender split in gears. It's one thing to design white robes with an ecclesiastic theme to it, but let's not kid ourselves - guys don't exist when designing WHM.
I agree. The best white mage artifact gear, for guys at least, was the 4.0 one. And I actually liked the whm af gear for 3.0; it just didn't suit male characters really well.I main WHM, and as someone who plays a male character, and a Roe [future Hrothgar] to boot, I just want to say I'm really, really glad for the gender split in gears. ARR: The ARR one I feel is the loveletter to the iconic BLMs in the deep past of FF. It features the classic pointed hat, and hefty billowing robes that are dyed a frightening shade of purple and black that transforms you into a dark figure on the battlefield. Taking the black indeed. It's the shadow form of the classic yellow/blue garb of BLMs of old, and it lovingly fits the aesthetic of FF14. Sadly, the reputation of the famous black cap has been tarnished by teleporting lalafell BLM bots, but it's still not going to stop me from wearing it!
HW: The HW one took me by surprise. At first I wasn't a fan of it, but with time, its unusual hat and minimalistic aesthetic has grown on me. I'd have to rank this in fourth place, though only due to how wonderful the other AF sets are.
SB: The set that I'm sure every BLM holds dear to their heart and glamours every once in a while if not for that tear-jerking nostalgia. The coat is designed in a way that stays true to their origins, while also appreciating the aesthetic of FF14. The green accents are what levels this up in my eyes; and the tattered, worn-in look fits well with the chaotic nature of the job. To finish it off, the set is topped with an eye-watering golden hat that acts as a beacon for divine wisdom from the heavens.
ShB: The witch aesthetic was what piqued my interest. It takes BLM glamour to a completely new direction, yet still manages to capture the job identity. It's fantastical, slightly whimsical, yet also refined, and it evokes images of classic fairytale witches stirring cauldrons of bright green concoctions.
To sum it up:
Stormblood in first, Shadowbringers second, ARR third, and HW in fourth place.

Hummm, as a BRD my favorite is still the 3.0 Aiodos set. My least is actualy the soon to be never used 5.0.
I liked the color shemes of the Aiodos and the originality of the design, 2.0 while nice had those ugly pants and 4.0 wasn't bad but not that good before dyed version came out.
5.0 is boring, smell like lazy design, even the bow is ugly as hell... Overall all 5.0 are really lazy design while some of them have a nice touch but... Its not shadowy enough to live up to the ext' name, neither its fairytale-like to be in synch with the first reflect. I know its more in touch with the first reflect WoL who stood there before us but I couldn't care less about being their successor, its lame.
