Didnt save screenshot they were saying " you have to be special kinda person" needs more rotations by player name" and some others comments. He kept stopping to type stuff like this.okay but what did they say exactly? all youve said is "they were being rude and snide" and we just have to accept that at face value. for all i know those "rude and snide remarks" were them telling you what rotation to use and asking you to keep threat on mobs.
post screen shots or quote what they specifically said.d

It is a known fact that there’s people who specifically use emotes just to harass people. They can be used as a weapon just like chat can. I had someone who spent two years harassing me. He HATED me for kicking him out of my previous FC for harassing the women in it (I was the leader). He got in trouble for verbally abusing me, so he started following me and spammed emotes at me. Would go out of his way to teleport where I did and hunt me down to do it. Shoot, I was doing maps with my fc and he hunted us down. Thank goddess for the aquapolis portal that got us out of there. At the time he wouldn’t get in trouble for spamming, so it was his best tool to try and bother me. I put up with it for two years, of which I hid in my personal plot and didn’t come out because I didn’t want to deal with it.
If that bothering me makes me have thin skin, fine, but he had the intent to use emotes as a form of harassment. The evil intent was there, 100%. Harassment is harassment no matter what tool they use to do it. I’m sure there’s people who abuse emotes to harass strangers for fun, because they think they won’t get in trouble for it.
I also remember back in ARR when DRGs had a certain skill that they could spam. Don’t remember what it was, I just know they jumped up and spun their spear into the ground, and it was really really loud. On my server, someone decided it was funny to make a macro that spammed that skill, and it went on all day every day in mor dhona. It was the most annoying sound, and it sucked having to go there for buying gear lol. I assume enough people reported them, because eventually they disappeared and mor dhona was FINALLY quiet again.

Certain emote sounds annoy me as well, even when not directed at me. Comes from having ASD, since the same thing happens in real life with certain sounds. I believe you can mute emote sounds in game, which is what I did. This way people can spam whatever emotes they want and it doesn't bother me. If people are being brat with emotes, then try muting them even temporarily. It will save you a lot of stress.
I always get a kick out of it when random people run up to me and pull out their bard harp to pluck the same note over and over again. And they have no idea that I play with my sound off so I can listen to YouTube.
At risk of sounding like a dick, can we not create new threads about venting? We have a fully dedicated thread for venting, one which I've used a few times myself. Creating new threads for trivial drama like this crowds the forum and frankly lowers the value of these forums. Here's a link! Happy venting.

Our forums are not crowded enough! And how dare you think people's issues lower the value of the forums. You don't get to judge that. =PAt risk of sounding like a dick, can we not create new threads about venting? We have a fully dedicated thread for venting, one which I've used a few times myself. You guys sure like dragging out threads for as long as you can here huh

Sounds legitimate to me. I wouldn't be worried about being in the wrong here. All is well!
Its just culture really. In WoW, me and friends used to do the same thing. Find rando, emote at him non stop while following him, get a huge train going with more randos cuz being part of a thing is fun, good times and laughs for all. You don't go for someone specific over and over cuz then that's harassment. Some things people just read too much into and try to put a meaning or intent that was never there. So go on: explain to me why it's okay to follow someone around emoting at them (even though the GM response indicates it isn't). I mean, if someone's standing still and you emote and get no response, and then you follow them when they move on and keep doing it, why is that? Aren't you just wasting your time? Please help me understand. It's not like I want emotes removed from the game, they are fun! But just why is using them to go after others acceptable?

I’m honestly surprised you and your buddies didn’t get reported, I personally don’t like fandoms bugging me and would of had a detailed report of all of you following me done. That’s just me though. Its just culture really. In WoW, me and friends used to do the same thing.
