Sshh, you're not allowed to mention to this great community how thin skinned people really are. They're gonna eat you alive.I won't lie, that certainly falls under the thin-skin thing. To judge the whole game based an encounter with a single individual using emotes. I'm sure even GW2 has folks like that. Every MMO does. Did you or your husband message the emoter in question to ask them to stop, or at least let them know that it was offensive to you?
To each their own I guess.

Ive had tanks yell at me for dpsing before when they were never near the chance of dying, they must be right right?![]()

Is an emote-spamming lala with high-pitched laughter following someone everywhere they go some kind of friendly behaviour I've previously been unaware of? My thoughts are if that were so, when the person being spammed moves away from the spammer not once, but twice, they, the spammer, should be at least clued in on the fact their advances are annoying and unwelcome. And my goodness, why on earth would I want to encourage any further communication with such a person by telling them to leave me alone after moving away from them? (not least because I don't think I had chat figured out at that point.) I can only imagine then they really do think they have an active audience and have been given licence to behave even more childishly.I won't lie, that certainly falls under the thin-skin thing. So, "thin-skinned thing", is it? Yes, I'd certainly own to that, but given I have social anxiety which I'm working on that's hardly surprising. Other players may not be the sort of people who care about that sort of thing however, and you know what? That's okay. It's not on everyone to know about who has what going on when you just come across them in a game. Though, I would think this very thing alone would give a wise person pause when seeking to interact, but like you said, to each their own.
Above that, however, I own a greater displeasure to general rude, disruptive, bullying and pointless behaviour, which the emote spam stupidity falls under. People who are actively seeking to upset or hurt others for their own amusement are the problem here and let's face it, it's just simple good manners to be decent to people.
Further, you're right it's irrelevant what game this behaviour happens in (I wasn't having a "go" at this particular game - it's just it's the only place this kind of behaviour has happened to me - the fact I've been playing it consistently over the last 16 months or so is because I changed my mind, and gave it another go. This is also irrelevant, given I said in my post it wasn't the sole reason I unsubbed and I wasn't truly finished with GW2. My apologies if that was unclear). Does that make it okay? No! Of course it doesn't. Some people have a propensity towards infantile attitudes which they have a compulsion to display to others, and they often think they can get away with it. I say no to that. Honestly, I feel sorry for people who act like this; I have to wonder just how bad their lives are that they think it's okay to behave like this to other people. There is never an excuse to abuse or harass anyone, and I don't think it sensible to let such behaviour go unchallenged.

As for impression of the game try to join a guild (Free company) which would run things with you, it really changes the memories/feeling we have with the game. DON'T be afraid to join small FCs, small FCs will run more things with you than big FCs will, trust me on this.
FCs certainly help. I remember when I first started. I got to like lvl 40 without ever seeing anyone chat in the game. I thought it was dead and quit, lol. Only later did I realize that all the social experiences in this game are compartmentalized in FCs, LSs, and Novice Network. Bless the Novice Network and it's hours of free entertainment! As for impression of the game try to join a guild (Free company) which would run things with you, it really changes the memories/feeling we have with the game. Whats with the sudden surge of people being thin skinned over emotes?
Regardless if they actually made comments about your rotation, maybe it just might be something you should look in to. Often times there are people that think because it works for them it's the right way when it's not.
Im not defending their comments if he actually said something rude to you, but often there's a reason behind comments about peoples gameplay.

Just like anything else, if you have to ask, the answer is yes.
I say this often, but I'm really not wrong about it: turning chat off increases your enjoyment exponentially on English language severs.

You were fine, they were honestly just being dicks.
You did the right thing, and if they even try to report you they'll look at the logs and understand.

so couple of thing i posted that at lunch didn't have time to go into details.
1.this is not thin skin post i tanked in many mmos its just comes with being a tank so its doesn't bother me as much, im at the point now if u pull as a dps because you want to go through the dungeon faster your tanking it and im not pick up the adds. i always check with the healer 1st to see how much they wanna handle, big pulls and big heals im down, wanna just chill with small pulls im cool with it,
2. it wasn't the spamming emote made me annoyed it was him not dpsing so he could type w/e holding up the dungeon is what made vote kick him the 1st place i have little time after work to play before i have to be up at the crack of dawn. i rarely talk in a pug group outside of hello and see u next time, i didnt respond and he kept going like he was try to get a rise out of me or something.
