I agree with you!Which is why they should be ridiculous. We should be able to solo primals with them. We should be able to waltz through dungeons doing a Shantotto laugh because the mobs are fools for challenging us. We should be absolute gods on BLU, to add to the fun factor. It would also make farming old content very satisfying.

this is a mistake in perception, when they said blue mage is unbalanced, they didnt just mean in terms of power, they meant in terms of design. % Chance abilities disrupt normal party flow. Access to cross role abilities is fairly limited. Wildly varying skill pools, decided by the player. Synergies.Which is why they should be ridiculous. We should be able to solo primals with them. Lets all be Honest here...as much as most of us wanted Blue Mage and were Excited for it...Im sure Im not the only person who knew it wouldn't work and function Properly in an MMO. At least, it wouldn't work as a Traditional Caster DPS.
If they went the Redmage route with it, that would already 'Limit' the job and make it kind of boring, and it wouldn't feel like a Bluemage. So Bluemage was a Lose/Lose.

Trying to use FFXI as an example for a functional Bluemage in a MMO is a very bad idea. ffxi doesnt have a hand holding job system. There is no duty finder, so no job is required to be anything specific. you could have a hexa strike whm/warrior trying to be a dps.
hybrid jobs were normal in ffxi, rdm, dancer
there was less of a strict mold in ffxi. Beastmasters had a very different method of doing things.
point is, ffxi was a fundamentally different game design, where really they could and would design anything they wanted into the system. Ffxiv job design is very centered on being streamlined into how its meant to function in the duty finder and its specific role in a duty group. Just the aquisition method alone would be something they wouldnt want in duty groups.
I wish limit jobs could be more of Hybrid jobs.
beast master for example my ideal away been of dps and pet off tank with pet base size be define by roles for large beast such a t-rex to small be range dps.
puppet master be more of tank job use the pet as more transfer of effect.
blue mage I often thought this should more avoidance tank joy weild two scimitar which is something ffxi beast master use. I know balance of role are hard. this why my hope for limit jobs that they will evenaullty become more full fledge jobs or more of hybrid jobs
I'd prefer if they made real jobs that we can play at endgame.
BLU is sufficient for a mini-game job concept.
Imagine how much more interesting this Moogle Tomestone event could be if BLU was ridiculously op and we could gather together and obliterate old content with crazy abilities...
