    Two questions about crafted gear

I currently have an ever-growing stash of gil on my 2nd retainer. Its sole purpose is for obtaining place-holder gear when the expansion drops.

I started playing this game after Stormblood had launched, so...

-How long does it usually take after an expansion drops before you start seeing level-capped gear on the MB?

-How long does it usually take after a new tier of crafted gear is released before the prices stabilize?

I tried Google, but I swear that Google is no longer a search engine. Instead, it's a I'll-give-you-whatever-results-I-want engine.

    1) Depends on crafter activity but the first crafted gear pieces for the new levelcap will be up around the release (from crafters starting with early access)

    2) It takes some time depending on server and datacenter but you can expect something from day 1 to a few weeks, just depends on how you define "stabilize". The longer you wait the lower the stabilized price will drop but mostly they are fixed after a few weeks and won't drop any further.

You'll usually see the level-cap gear show up on the MB right after they add it to the game. For Stormblood, I believe the 320 set was added at the same time as savage released in 4.05, which was four weeks after the launch of SB. I imagine it'll be the same with Shadowbringers. Due to the mad rush of players buying/selling the gear for diving into the new savage raid tier, that gear is usually available (at inflated prices) within a day or two depending on server population.

Now that world visit and buying things off of the market boards on other worlds is a thing, it's hard to say when prices will stabilize. Maybe a month or two? Someone who is more savvy with market board trends than I can probably answer that question better.

Greetings fellow Coeurl(-ian?), probably 5.2-3 though and it will still be really pricey for a bit. Like around the 500k+ pricey for the start for high quality crafted. (over a million for a weapon)

I've had stuff on the MB day 2 of content patches. Usually its not available right at expansion launch, so probably day 2 of it being available (probably a month or so).

Day 1 gear costs a LOT more.

Prices stabilize quickly, and then drop in value every month or two.

So... Day 1 gear would mean people are getting all through the MSQ and leveling a crafter/gatherer to Lv80, all on day 1? That sounds ridiculously intense.

(I assume it's at least a team effort and everybody picks one class and shares the crafting. But still.)

For Famfrit the prices didnt normalize until a few weeks after the first raid dropped.

However now with the world visiting system it is purely datacenter based. If there are not alot of crafters and gatherers leveled within the first few weeks then we could see prices spike very high, especially if people are server hopping to buy the gear.

Considering it will be a few weeks before the raid drops( 3 or less). This point its all about supply and demand but on a datacenter level.

Based on the past two expansions, they'll release the first masterbooks and 1-star level 80 gear the same time as the 8-man raids, which will be at least 2 weeks after the expansion. It won't be difficult to have a DoH job at 80 by that point, and the top DoH gear will be level 78ish until 5.1.

Those are difficult questions to give a straight answer too and have a lot of variables to take in. I mean...I can answer as best I can based on my own experiences cause I tend to prefer crafted gear over tomb gear.

    1) After a expansion maybe a month or two because the crafter needs to level to max, re-gear, re-materia, get their master recipe books on top of building a stock of the new materials needed to make the things. After a normal numbered patch, I wanna say maybe a few days to a week before max ilvl items start showing up. Again depending if the crafter needs to re-gear and re-materia.

    2) That depends on what you view as stable and what your own comfort zone is on what you're willing to spend. Usually prices seem to settle around a set mark as less people need the gear and more of it is on the market place. Which could take months just because at the start you're going to be competing against the raiders and the hardcore min-maxers who won't think twice about paying whatever it takes to get the pieces they want. I wanna say somewhere around the halfway point of the currant contents life span is when crafted gear becomes more stable for those of us that either prefer crafted gear or just like min-maxing to get the most out of their gear for a longer period of time.
