SAM 54: Blood on the Deck

I've thrown in the towel for Samurai today after getting destroyed in the level 54 story quest "Blood on the Deck". I'm curious if anyone has any pointers on how to deal with this mission since, in my case at least, this seems to be the one-per-job quest that is an absolute nightmare for a while. Here are some points where it's all going wrong for me:

    - In the first wave of enemies (fake Samurai, forgot their names), I'll almost always run out of TP if I use the Fuga->Oga / Fuga->Mangetsu / Tenka Goken path to damage all of them at once. On the other hand, I'll take an absolute beating by just attacking one-by-one. In every attempt, I've always had very low health by the time I'm down to just one enemy, so I've gotten around this by running laps around the battle area to let all the re-cast timers on Cooldowns end.

    - The second phase isn't as bad, and I've gotten through fairly cleanly each time.

    - The final enemy destroys me every single time. I have Bloodbath, Second Wind, and potions available for this fight, but his Rage of Halone combo takes a massive chunk of health out each time I get near him. Usually only a couple of these attacks are enough to result in a failure since they're seemingly limitless on range. Even if I try to kite him around to let Bloodbath/Second Wind reset, I get hit with this no matter how far away I am. This phase has been hopeless so far, as I'm getting hit for just as much damage when I run up to him as when I'm across the entire width of the boat.

My ilvl is 113 at this point and I'm on the lookout for upgraded gear at the moment, I'm just looking for any advice on how to approach this because I'm either missing something simple or just don't know how to handle this.

    Take care everyone!

As is the norm, I completed this on the very next attempt after posting here. I didn't upgrade many gear items, I simply re-thought how the attacks were being dealt! That said, there was still amount of kiting I had to do in order for the CDs to reset :/

Yep, the quest was extremely difficult; almost mandatory to kite while the passive healing catches you up unless you have absurd gear; the gear you get just by opening the job demands a minute or minutes kiting to stay in the fight.

this stupid quest... its luck, not skill, gear or talent, LUCK!

I guess ill fight with only skill lvl 52 and lower forever till they change it, the last guy dont give a rats arse if you are melee or range still hit 80% of your hp and it only takes 2 hits and 5min+ wasted getting there... please fix enix.

Make sure to slot all the healing cross classes.

Down the adds quickly as they can be overwhelming, but as you get to the last few, start stocking up Kenki.

When the big guy comes out, work him down slowly, stocking up Kenki and Sen. The goal is to have Kenki and Sen to start WTF burning him the moment he gets into his stupid phase. Also, you'll eventually start getting Echo when you keep trying, so at the worst, go in with a full echo stack and wipe the floor with him.

I think I've found a working way; if you've played GLD/PLD you know the main combo goes Fast Blade/Savage Blade/Rage Of Halone. What I tried was using Third Eye after he hits with Savage Blade, which negates the damage of Rage Of Halone, saving tones of health.

Figured I'd post this due to the combo changes coming in Shadowbringers.
