How likely is it that SE will actually improve character customization?

No, this is not a complaint thread. Just an honest and open discussion here about the likelihood of getting better customization. No overly optimistic stuff or overly pessimistic stuff.

For me: Honestly...I think it will not happen. I also believe they will not revamp the graphics engine as well. I think if we want better character customization, we have to wait for the next FF mmo. It seems to be something they do not care that much about, and if anything, it seems like it’s being intentionally avoided.

“PS4 Limitations” is a redundant response, also. Because they’ll say that for the PS5, and so on. So in conclusion: nope

as for graphics they have said in multiple interviews that yes they are aware of advances in tech in this area but they do not go into design with an HQ mindset in mind.

While i agree it’s not exactly likely, they have never complained the ps4 would limit them in any way. The issue is the foundation upon which the game is built. 1.0.

This is a ghost that haunts us more than people realize. They have acknowledged the requests for an updated character creator and have even said it is something they would love to do for the players if i remembered correctly, but the ultimate issue is that they dont have the resources or development time to do it with the limitations of 1.0 weighing them down and the cost of removing 2.0 forward from that foundation would be astronomical and would require an extended period of down time. Which is something mmos generally cant afford to do.

I think they will eventually have to do a graphical update, and if it happens it'll happen then.

And I don't expect another FF MMO anytime soon, not unless this one crashes and loses a big chunk of players.

It's a common request and something they will need to address at some point in the future. My suspicion is that they are waiting until the PS5 is here as the game will likely be playable on that platform too.

For what it's worth their language used when responding to graphical upgrades in Q&A sessions has been more positive lately.

They should let a third party that does mods to do the HQ package for it. Like the ones that did it for Fallout 4. Skyrim and other games. It save them a lot money.

I think it shouldn't be as ahrd as people think, at least texture wise. They are just adding HQ textures and not making a new rig. Hell look at Veira and Hrothgar compared to say Hyur and Roe..big difference in quality.
