Question about buy ShB for PS4

So, I recently bought a PS4 Pro, and am thinking of getting ShB on it.

I currently play FFXIV (With SB expac) on my PC, which is trash. I am thinking of buying ShB for PS4 but I am unsure what all I need to buy. I know I would need to buy the FFXIV Starter Addition, and that HW comes with SB.

Question: What I am wondering is if I buy ShB+Starter would I have access to SB when ShB goes live? Or will HW and SB come packed with ShB?

I don't mind continue play on my PC until then, but would like to make that jump over to my PS4 without having to re-buy SB.

Also, more importantly, due accounts transfer from PC to PS4?

you are paying for the license to play on another client. just because you play on PC does that mean Sony should not get a cut of sales if you decide you want to play on PS4? all you do is add the playstation license key to your square enix account and you can log into your character as normal. just remember unless you do the character settings backup you will have to redo all your UI/hotbars/macros etc. on the PS4.

if you buy now for PS4, just get the complete edition and pre-order Shadowbringers. I would wait for the inevitable complete edition that will be put out after 5.0 launches so you can just get that instead.

Guh, quite frustrating that I would have to cough out an extra $60 for a game I already own a license to (I understand what you mean, buy still frustrating non-the-less).

It works the same way as any game, you wouldn't be able to play FFXIII on XBOX 360 with your PS3 copy.

A) If you can continue to play on PC until the 28th, you can buy the PS4 starter edition and pre-order Shadowbringers. Whenever a new expansion comes out, it absorbs the previous expansions. So you would have access to them as soon as early access started.

B) You could also continue to play on PC and get the complete edition after ShB launch; however, this option doesn't let you play Shadowbringers until official ShB launch because complete editions do not get early access as a pre-order bonus.

Characters are attached to your service account, to which you attach licenses for each platform for each expansion.

In scenario (A), you would would have access to PC ARR/HW/SB and PS4 ARR until the 27th. You would only be able to log in to PS4 as long as you logged out in an ARR zone on PC. If you wanted to log in in a HW/SB zone, or you wanted to move to an HW/SB zone, you would have to log in on PC. From the 28th on, you'd have access to PC ARR/HW/SB and PS4 ARR/HW/SB/ShB.

In scenario (B), you would have access only to PC ARR/HW/SB until 02 July, then PC ARR/HW/SB and PS4 ARR/HW/SB/ShB from 02 July on.

In either scenario, after activating PS4 ShB, if you logged out in a ShB zone on PS4, you would be unable to log in on PC until you logged back in on PS4 and moved to a non-ShB zone.

You link your PSN to your Square Enix ID, so whilst you can certainly play the same character on both platforms, you have to buy a copy of the game for that platform, just like the earlier example of FFXIII for Xbox 360 and PS3

I'll also point out now, on top of this, your gearsets, skillbar setup and macros won't be shared, so you will also have to reassign/recreate all of them (do this BEFORE you turn things in for seals at your Grand Company, otherwise things get messy)

They're not automatically shared, but there's now an option on the launcher's character selection screen to upload your settings from one, and then to download those to the other. In order to keep them in sync, you need to remember to repeat that process after every gaming session in which you made changes to them, but it's easier than re-creating everything from scratch.
