If there's anything I would give you a commendation for, it's spawning a thread that reached 11 pages in less than a day.
But in all seriousness, don't go into dungeons expecting commendations every run, you're going to have a bad time if you do.

a guildy of mine is not expecting a commendation even when he main as tank or healer. even if he did something amazing like last stand against boss or save party with LB3.
Just when you thought at this point everyone got past over it... phew

Would be nice if they added more items to the System (would love a 2 seat mount *Cough*) but it really don't matter to them anymore it seems.. So many system get left behind eventually =/
If you seriously only have 107 commendations after 4 years of playing FFXIV, I think that's more telling what kind of player you are and given the entitled attitude in this post it pretty much confirms it. I started at Heavensward launch and I have over 1000 comms, which isn't exactly a lot compared to others. You aren't owed commendations for anything. It's simply a way to show appreciation to someone who left a positive impression on you.
I'm guilty of giving out my commendation blindly to whatever Green or Blue icon is in the list; not because of laziness....... but b-because of....
Okey it's laziness, ....b-but in my defense! -it is a kinda flawed system not because of what it is, or what it rewards, or who it rewards it to, but WHEN the system asks the player to make that choice, ... right frick'n after a Dungeon or Raid, when the person might be a bit drained or tired if it's been a long night.
The system itself is fine, it's the execution of the system that desperately needs attention. As a Monk all i can do is solely focus on my self, make sure i'm contributing, not getting hit with Damage/AoE's to overstretch the Healers... i am not paying attention to other folks performances even in the slightest; unless it's something really slow and laid back like early Dungeons or GuildHeists; and even then i kinda am not paying much mind to others unless it's a situation calls for it.
That's the main crux of Duty finders commendation system, it relies heavily on user behaviors, and habits, and what people lean more towards; -behaviors, or... habits; it's not a system that allows breathing room for critical thinking, people usually just want to leave the dungeon.
EDIT: In a perfect world, the commendation system would fit more comfortably as it's own independent system not tied to content, but in past games, I've seen commendation systems in older Korean and Japanese online game titles abuse that system, so i can understand why this one is where it is, i just believe it can do a better job at allowing people more time to think about that choice, rather then being in the time window it's in right now.
If i knew people wouldn't simple abuse it or use it to harass people, a quick performance review system- where players can actually write about the players performance, and rate them that way publicly, would be much more rewarding and beneficial to long-term play. -Again.... if there weren't so many terrible people in this world, that system could really work.

I give commendiations to green icons only, because its my favourite colour.![]()
there is a really easy way to get comms just get some friends and que up for the same guildhest together at the same time but not as a group odds are if you will all get put into the same instance since no one really does those and you can clear it in less then a min and pass trade comms to get whatever reward you want its not hard sometimes you have to think outside the box
it is if you hate that horrible touch plate as much as me, the select button on ps3 controller was far better.Uh, what? it's not uncomfortable at all. If you're good enough to play the game, you're good enough to push the start button twice and simply select who you want to comm. It's a hell of a lot easier than actually playing the game well. I have no idea what you're on about here.
For whatever it's worth, I've been playing about 4-5 months with over 850 instances completed and a near 1:1 ratio of comms to instances. All I do is my best, and over time, it builds up. That said, there were times I certainly didn't do that well and got 3 comms. And far too many times where I was by far the best player on a dumpster fire team yet got none after the run was over.
Where is the delete button on this forum....
Wish we could hide threads.
