We've seen more "pls don't nerf me bro" posts on General Discussion because one job is losing one button than over the past few years of neglect and baby proofing healers.
Tells us what people really care about.

Wrong. I miss Miasma 2 and Old Cards for their prior interactions with game systems, like using Miasma 2 for weaves during SB creating an interesting MP economy. Or making a machinist's entire rotation crash and burn with enhanced arrow in HW, as immediate examples.
I see constant complaining about Tanks and Healers, the reason why the Kaiten thing is getting so much attention is because it's the removal of something that actually matters a lot and will make it less fun to play ( it's not a nerf, it's meant to make SAM more consistent this is a gameplay issue not a power issue ).
The Tank and Healer thing has just been talked to death about there's nothing new to say really while the Kaiten thing is recent and about something that already exists being removed rather than what should be added.
The removal of skills from tanks and especially healers mattered way more and made the role far less fun to play, Sam is only losing 1 button that mattered to their job gauge and whose removal only changes the rotation in the way they spam shinten more. Healers like Sch lost dots, lost cds, lost a fucking fairy and the "only-1-button-to-spend-your-gauge" thing has been happening in both SB and now EW, honestly, as someone who saw the changes from SB to Shb in Sch, I would kill to have my job design nerfed in the way Sam is getting nerfed instead of what we got (And no I'm not saying is ok to get rid of kaiten, I also think it should stay and that is a shitty change, but don't downplay what they did to us cause it was far far worse)I see constant complaining about Tanks and Healers, the reason why the Kaiten thing is getting so much attention is because it's the removal of something that actually matters a lot and will make it less fun to play ( it's not a nerf, it's meant to make SAM more consistent this is a gameplay issue not a power issue ).
I mean the main difference is that Sam's have a chance of being heard with just these complains, healers and tanks have been complaining for years about stuff that already existed and got removed and here we are.The Tank and Healer thing has just been talked to death about there's nothing new to say really while the Kaiten thing is recent and about something that already exists being removed rather than what should be added.
You're really downplaying the role of Kaiten a lot but I am not going to get into a debate about that. The removal of skills from tanks and especially healers mattered way more and made the role far less fun to play, Sam is only losing 1 button that mattered to their job gauge and whose removal only changes the rotation in the way they spam shinten more. What I am saying is that it's not strange to me that people are so up in arms in the General section because it's more recent and more people play DPS.
It's also a much more specific thing which makes it easier to talk about while Healers basically all have issues and it's more widespread.
If they go through with removing Kaiten then eventually people will stop talking about it in such a loud manner.
Just like how people aren't always spamming about Healer issues in General.
The meme is essentially saying that there's a double-standard and that people only care about it when it's about a DPS like SAM and I don't think that's true at all.
It's just recency bias and that it's easier to talk about the one thing instead of what's wrong with eight or four Jobs simultaneously.
It's not that people don't care about the Healer situation.
I find it hilarious that you think comparing the loss of Kaiten to everything the tanks and healers have lost is downplaying Kaiten's role. DRK is in shambles, WHM is a chinese knockoff of a healer, SCH is a clunky mess with 1 amazing OGCD, ASTs cards are a convoluted nightmare all for them to essentially do the exact same thing, each healer is mashing literally 1 action upwards of 160+ times in a fight and that's not hyperbole, and the healer role is borderline optional for content at this point. Kaiten is a good ability that compliments SAM's gameplay very well and losing it is frustrating yes, but go off about how that's FAR more important than the entire existance of the healing role. You're really downplaying the role of Kaiten a lot but I am not going to get into a debate about that.

Really? Have you been to the healer forum? Like, ever?
You can't swing an earless Hrothgar without hitting at least three non-healer posts about how "hEaLeRz ShUlD oNlY hEaL," and how healers being stupidly easy to play is a good thing (because it means more braindead players can serve as living Trusts to keep them alive when they stand in poo for uptime).
People were more outraged about butts when the 2B tights were first introduced than they were about AST being gutted in 5.0 (losing card system and time magic) and again in 6.0 (Noct Sect deleted, along with half of AST's lore).
Removing all of these SCH abilities in Stormblood mattered a lot and made them a hell of a lot less fun to play. . .

Veteran healers don't care if we need to heal, but right now we don't. We want interesting things to do during the downtime other than a 30s dot and a single filler spell that hasn't changed from lvl 4 to lvl 90.
Dead DPS do no DPS. Raised DPS do 25/50% lower DPS. Do the mechanics and don't stand in bad stuff.
Other games expect basic competence, FFXIV is pleasantly surprised by it. Other games have toxic elitism. FFXIV has toxic casualism.[/LIST]
Let's not get into a SAM vs Healer debate or argue over who deserves to complain more.
Healers are a mess, tanks deserve more love, SMN is a joke and yes, SAM and NIN definitely have reason to complain. If anything it's a good thing dps are finally realizing class design is going in a bad direction and adding their voices to ours. Keep the focus on what's important, like getting our feedback through.
Its simple. The devs think of healing as a feminine and unexciting task. It may sound sexist, but its 100% the truth.
What they want is to make sure healers are always able to keep everyone else going. They don't want healing to ever be hard or complicated, because that might slow down all the "fun" jobs.
