Will we ever get more slots for items that can be placed outside in our yards? The inside cap was doubled. Will we ever see the outside cap raised? 20 -> 30 -> 40 is very restrictive....

Yes please, considering also that every other patch we get new outdoor furninshing and we have to get rid of things in order to place the new ones. i get it, server load, blabla. But come on... it's 2017.

At the very least please remove the teleport crystal and the mailbox from the items counted toward placement. 20 slots for a small house are way too little for any creativity so I hope we get some relief with addition item placement soon. I know they mentioned they'd look at it after Shirogane and relocation goals were achieved.

They said they'd look into it, but have other changes that will be coming first.

You have to keep in mind that an increase of just 10 to each front yard would increase the potential amount of objects in a single housing ward instance by 300. That's 100 more than the previous increase to mansions.
I'm comparing the two, since a housing interior is one instance, while the entirety of the outdoor part of a housing area is also one instance.

When walking around in a housing ward, have you ever experienced stuttering even though your PC has like a 1080 in it and all? That's the effect of all the items in a radius around you needing to be loaded, displayed and unloaded from your system's memory. Also, if you had one of certain older network cards in your PC it would also frequently DC you inside housing wards (I know I had that problem with my older PC and the drivers just weren't getting any updates anymore).
The problem with adding items to the housing ward is less about SE being able to store things database side and more about the graphical problems that will occur with the game-engine's stability and properly displaying things around your character. If they add slots to gardens of our houses as it is now we'll experience more constant loading stuttering and a lot more objects just popping into existence as you walk around and get close to them, or even worse, constantly crash the game.![]()

I'm on PS4 so I never had any of that. I have noticed that when I enter a housing zone that the PS4 fans make more noise than usual meaning it's working harder..
I think what they could do is only load things that's on your screen. It may not be pretty when you walk up to a house and see it pop up in front of you but it's a good way to save energy.

I thought Yoshida said they would struggle because 32-bit PCs would explode trying to load the wards (exaggeration but it was along those lines and I'm sure he cited the 32-bit support as an issue).
Removing the mandatory aetheryte is a good idea though. Everyone has one and most people just try to hide it inside something because it clashes with their garden design anyway. Just make it a visual-only thing for those who genuinely want to have one in their garden and let everyone else throw theirs away?

Yes, could def do without the forced crystal. A mailbox by each of the marketboards would be nice too since we only have two mailbox designs.Removing the mandatory aetheryte is a good idea though. This right here is one of the big issues they have to tackle. As of now you have 730 pieces of furniture loading in each ward if everyone has used up all their slots. Each slot in addition for all the plots would be 30 more pieces on top of that, and they'd likely want to add more slots to the larger plots so even more than that. You have to keep in mind that an increase of just 10 to each front yard would increase the potential amount of objects in a single housing ward instance by 300. They could use a weighed system, like for example you get "80" value of things, something basic as flower petals on the ground could be 1 weighed, a big tree could be 5, so on.
