Finding a house - are new FC basically stuck without?

We're a bunch of returning and new players and have started talking about houses but it appears every single plot is owned already. How can you tell if some are coming up to be available soon? Should we just get apartments?

Right now the NA servers are fairly well filled up since the reclamation timer (45 days of non-use, a plot opens back up for grabs) was paused due to natural disasters. Any houses that were entered during the months it was paused had their timer reset. Around the 6th or 7th of this month should be 45 days after the timer unpaused and you may see a decent chunk of houses open up for availability. Take note that these plots will have the invisible rng timer active once they're demolished so it will involve some click camping. If you're attempting to purchase the plot as an fc, you have the benefit of being able to enable multiple people in the fc to purchase a plot on behalf of the fc. Of course they'll have to be willing to take some time to camp out plots, have the gil needed on them at the time and they'll have to make sure they choose the option to buy for the fc instead of as a personal plot when the rng timer expires.

As far as personal plots go it's the same deal, but everyone has to go after the plots themselves.

Yah, and people will start dropping off with in 3 months of the new xpac. I expect to start seeing more houses opening up then. What server are you on? I regularly check Hyperion and Famfrit for friends.

I really really really doubt there will be enough houses on Aether and Primal even with autodemolition turned on and actively demolishing houses. Even the preferred servers on Aether have been closed to character creation during weekends and other peak hours. Square Enix will have to introduce instanced housing, add so many more new wards, and / or fix the click spam for people who want plots on busy servers.

Many people on Mateus outright buy FCs. It's a whole market. Which is sad.

I still don't understand the reasoning behind the RNG timer. We went from having monopolization issues to just punishing everyone that wants a house. They should just limit housing to 1 per account and FC. Having a house show as for sale, but then have this random timer applied, is completely counter-intuitive. It also just creates the other issue of people wasting hours, days, weeks, and even months trying to buy a house only to have someone else run up and get it by pure RNG. It also raises the problem of having people create macros to buy housing as well as people just selling FCs. Square literally took one problem and made it increasingly worse.

I've been trying to buy a house on Midgardsormr for days now. Been at this plot now for about 6 hours just waiting and hoping.. It's getting ridiculous.
