The only thing I'm obsessed with is my wish that this game had actual pet classes, buffers, debuffers, and controllers. But alas, not to be.

This helps make things seem less toxic, because people don't know they're being insulted and can't argue back, but I don't think that the people playing XIV are actually inherently less toxic than people who play WoW.
Perhaps. But toxicity in private means it's not impacting the community, so it's not really relevant.

I guess it's time to build a wall.

Why back in my day, it was always XI vs WoW. Now it has simply shifted to XIV vs. WoW. Never change, peeps.

To restate what I meant in my earlier post. To be blunt... I don't think XIV's playerbase is TOXIC...... I mean we're not the slums. But I'd say spoiled is a better word for most of it. THere's a good side to it... SE ends to keep a tight pull on the rules with a few slip ups so people here are a bit more careful. Like I mentioned in my last post you have to pay to post here. But the bad side to that is well... SE tends to cuddle the bad lazy players abit too much and it's that that makes us spoiled. We'll never have DPS meters for that reason, which is a good example to bring up. I like knowing my damage, I HATE having to go to an outdated site cause I can't meter myself on PS4. You know who likes the current state of affairs? People who never cared to improve and that's important cause that means lazy people can keep being bad without aoeing trash over 3 mobs, and failing DPS checks cause we can't see what they are doing. and if you call it out you're being mean and can be punished for it. Yes there's some good to SE cuddling us.. we tend to get alot of stuff. - The bunny outfit to name one- But it comes with it's own issues too.

Long story short I think we're more spoiled than toxic. Tera online is a great example of a playerbase that is toxic. Noone is cuddling you there.. it is not a safe place over in those woods.

But yeah, I find all the "WoW players are ruining XIV!" claims ridiculous. XIV has plenty of its own home-grown bad apples, the influx of new players is just going to bring some more to add to the bunch. Blaming WoW is just an easy out.

Why back in my day, the cool argument was always XI vs WoW. Now it has simply shifted to XIV vs. WoW. Never change, peeps.
Saying "Blaming WoW is just an easy out" is dismissing the reality of what's happening, though. As I said before, no one is denying that there are toxic people in FFXIV's community. The reality is, there are less in FFXIV than there are in WoW, and not just because WoW has more subs. The ratio is higher in WoW than here. Pointing that out, and the fact that there's been a recent influx of unhappy people from WoW to FFXIV is not "blaming wow", it's simply acknowledging what's happening.

This kind of generalization doesn't help your argument. I like not having dps meters. Meters feed toxicity. I say this as someone who used to raid hardcore in WoW for years and spent more time watching the meter than watching the fight. Meters are not the only method of measuring improvement, they're just the laziest way to measure it.

Depending on the server there, I'm not sure toxic is the most accurate word. A couple servers over there, toxic would be an improvement. There's some.... unique... people in TERA. lol

The elitism in this thread reeks of toxicity.

BUUT you know what I'm talking about LOL. Clearly we had some dark days in TERA. We are miqo brothers in arms for surviving ... TERA.

I kid.. but yeah. You know what I was talking about lol. On the DPS meters.. and not to flip the train off the tracks as DPS meters is one of those topics where XIV's playerbase can get toxic. I kindof explained that in my troll post above the one you qouted to get the point accross. But I rather not blame the tool.. you kindof have to be toxic before the tool. Like if I was using it.. it wouldn't change me. But again... that's a whole different debate and there's no right answer. - Points to my troll post-

Sure it is. The conversation here is about whether or not WoW players coming to XIV will make the community worse off or not, which is dependent on whether or not the players themselves are actually more toxic than the existing XIV fanbase.

If WoW players are legitimately more toxic people, then the XIV fanbase will be worse off with a large influx of WoW players

If WoW players are the same toxicity as XIV players, but just allowed to be more visibly toxic in WoW because of WoW rules vs XIV rules, then when they come over to XIV and are forced to play by XIV ToS rules, they'll be reduced to the same less toxic appearance that the current XIV community has, and there'll be hardly any difference.
