I don't think not wanting to not carry players who can't do thing they learned in a low level ARR quest is an abuse of power.

But the vast amount of people I argue with are lvl 70. Which is why I bother to bring it up. You're right, it's silly to get hardcore on a pre-level 50 player. I honestly let those folks live and learn on their own. No reason to rush it--just as long as they get it eventually, right? lol
What level 70 equipment allows you to equip the wrong gear? Once you hit 60, all the gear is made for specific classes, is it not?

Besides, it's not like they get kicked for just being ignorant. It's usually their toxic responses that lead to the rest of the party agreeing with it. For example, it could go something like this.

"Hey black mage, why are you wearing strength acessories?"

    "They increase my hit chance."

"You know that's not true, right?"

    -other party member comments-

"I don't care what you say, you're just lying!"

"Nah man, STR really doesn't do anything for your class."

"OMG, why won't you shut up already?"

    -Initiates kick- -kick passes-
    -Gets a new dps-

That's normally the short of it.

(Other people generally chime in. Some positive. Some negative. But 99% of the time, the rest of the party is entirely supportive of my approach, and the kick. So I don't think it's considered abuse).
My friends and I have come to refer to this phenomenon as "Warrior Of Light Syndrome". There is a really bizarre culture of arrogance in this game that newer players seem to develop. People come out of the MSQ acting like they are the absolute master of the game, and will often get into aggressive confrontations when someone points out that they're wrong about something.

Maybe it has something to do with how the MSQ is structured and how your character is portrayed? idk.

I neither coddle nor encourage playing wrong. I just think it's not worth making a big deal out of it and kicking players. You forget some people play for something called fun. I encourage telling them that it's not the optimal way and if it's gear for the looks that they can glam it but how long are you stuck with that player? 1 dungeon. Do it, get out and if you in a hurry to finish a run, maybe don't run low levels dungeons where you bound to encounter sprouts. I know empathy is hard to understand but you should try it once in awhile.

Oh believe me. I've seen level 70's with sub-level 70 with the wrong stats. And I've heard people say the same excuses. "This lvl 60 strength ring is better for my ninja, because I can't wear 2 lvl 70 dex rings-DUH!"

While I'm all for playing for fun, I consider it minimal effort to at least have appropriate gear for your level and class before you enter an instance. The way the game throws gil and gear at you, there's no excuse for not pulling your weight in this department.

It can be bottom of barrel vendor gear with no materia for all I care - long as it's appropriate for your level and class, you're good.

Imagine having gear so terrible people consider kicking you from normal modes.

My sympathy is in the negatives.

I don't really know how to phrase it properly, but if I could restructure this post--it would be to bring more light on people's absolutely aggressive and emotional responses to any form of constructive criticism. Because let's be honest. If I was the jerk--no one would agree with the vote kicks. People mostly go with them because the target player was being toxic regardless of what the conversation was about.

But I also want to be blunt "Why are you wearing STR on a caster" instead of having to type a paragraph just to sugar-coat my true meaning. I'm not offensive in my questions. But I am blunt. Yet I get a lot of people who are incredibly toxic.

If the kick passes how is that an abuse of the system? Difference of play style is a valid reason GM's have confirmed this in the past. Also what is interesting you yourself mention that is it okay to remove someone if they "really drag the party down" clearly the group that passed the vote felt the lack of proper gear really dragged the party down that it warranted the removal of the player. Granted for you that may not count as dragging the party down so to speak the use of wrong gear, but for some it is. The line is drawn in different places for different people, but as you said removing someone that is really dragging the party is okay, so you support how the OP used the feature. Or do you feel only your subjective few as to what is dragging down a party is the standard we should use as a community?

Honestly baffles me when people say only valid reason for removing someone from a group is based around a non uniform metric. What you find as toxic or holding the group back vastly differs from person to person, and group to group.

It's funny but I usually see people who have lvl 70s and what not that are just too lazy to gear up their alts so they come in with wrong gear or low ilvl, I'll never forget the Vault Run I had with my returning friend where we had a BLM with healing accessories and ilvl 110 left side and a SAM who had DEX and INT accessories and the sword was the crafted Ifrit weapon. We kicked the SAM and the BLM quit right after and we got new DPS and continued on.

Bottom line (for me anyways) if you show up to a dungeon horribly undergeared with the wrong accessories then you didn't put in the effort to be a team player, like I said though it's usually not the newbies that I see with wrong accessories it's usually the returners or people who don't have new bonuses. Most sprouts I see are usually fine.
