Trust System / Solo Gaming

Hello,

I've been away from FFXIV for a long time as I've drifted away from MMOs to hit my backlog on PS4 and Nintendo Switch. When I saw that FINAL FANTASY XII is being released next week on Switch, it made me realize how much I loved the single player experience with a bit of MMO flavor.

That reminded me of a few bits of information that I've read over the years regarding Trusts or some such in FFXIV which would allow players to experience much of the game solo. Is this accurate? As a solo-first player who actually loved the world and story of FFXIV, I would really enjoy being able to experience dungeons on my own and play through the entire story without the need of feeling rushed or pressured by other players.

Perhaps I misread past articles and am completely off-base on Trusts or plans to implement such a feature. Any helpful links or info would be appreciated.

No one kows for sure how and for what Trust works.
If i remember correctly it will be only available for the new duties in Shadowbringers.

I think the next chance to get new informations on this will be the next liveletter mid to end may.

I believe they said it would only be applied for dungeons in Shadowbringers specifically for right now.

So it'll help you out if you're starting fresh as a 70 going forward, but if you want to experience the rest of the game prior I don't think they have it in the wings yet. Nor do I think they could for events in HW unless they're going to let you take someone like Pippin or Arenvaldt(from whatever the hell they're doing) for tanking if you're not able to.

Hopefully, it will be like in FFXI, where you can summon it almost anywhere or any instance.

From what videos have shown, it appears to be a special dungeon queue and the trust npcs appear inside with you. Basically better AI scripted squadron command missions, but without the squadron control bar.

Am I really in the minority, due to the fact I prefer to play with random players than bots?

On the one hand, I'm happy for the people who'll finally be able to play on their own, as they've always wanted.
On the other, I hope this doesn't mean I'm made to wait longer queues (or worse, forced to queue on my own).

It won't be like this, if anything it will make your queues quicker not slower, as I don't see why a tank or healer would use the system with queue times as fast as they are, so all it will do is reduce the pool of dps waiting for a queue.

Tank/Healers will probably use it to avoid anxiety issues.

Especially for first runs through content, in order to learn mechanics.

Heck, I'd probably do a lot of my initial duties solo because I have the odd habit of doing MSQ at 4am and apparently everyone else is "Sleeping" or something at that time... Weirdo's

Trusts are coming in ShB, though, for the time being they're limited to only ShB content.

However, they have been expanding on the current Squadron content over time, which is available through Grand Companies, and has a number of dungeons available to go through. I also expect that when ShB is released, that it will get further updates to incorporate some of the SB dungeons.
