I however would have loved to see less dumbing down and beating a dead healing horse and give healers some more variety and innovation, not homogenisation and repetitiveness.
here we go again. finally had a thread of happiness and the true player base feelings for healing and we have that one guy that wants to bring the doom and gloom about innovation and homogenisation that doesnt even exist. The only thing that needs innovation is dungeon design, the open world and graphics.

I'm excited for sch. Just because its dps rotation was simplified doesn't mean that sch's identity as the shield/ogcd healer was stripped away.

It still has (a buffed mind you) Ruin II, and with the current iteration of the numbers, it actually has the strongest spam aoe skill (whm does technically have the better aoe damage due to Assize/Afflatus Misery, but other then the stun Holy is weaker then Art of War) which grants them even more weaving space. It has really good tools for weaving said ogcds.

The loss of energy drain does somewhat suck yeah, but with Quickened Aetherflow no longer being a thing, and the buff to sacred soil making it a nigh on demand collective unconscious, it's no where near the doom and gloom most people make it out to be.

Also Broil III looks stunning. Just like in Stormblood I think scholar got the coolest looking spam nuke of the three, so if that's gonna end up being the spell I spam the most, then I'm cool with it.

In my original post I was careful to use the I/My to state it was purely my opinion and steer very clear of my opinion is the only one.

I still wonder if tanks and dps are going to be surprised by how much damage will occur if they dont mitigate or dodge aoe's I think right now as per end of patch cycle very comfortable with the damage we can do/take and new expansion comes and suddenly everything hurts again. I play SCH/PAL so am familiar with both sides of the roles.

This time around I personally dont buy we are going to have to stand there and heal a bit and worry about DPS this could potentially be a OMG moment we are going to really work at that healing. We have so much more shields, raw heals etc in our kits and that has to be needed for something..... Well I am hoping.

I’ve been very unsatisfied with the changes and still am but a positive thread is welcome for a change. For what it’s worth I’m pretty sure my baby (sch) will still probably be the best healer in game. I’m just sad they made what constitutes 90% of my play time, dull 1-2 button mashing. (make that 80% in ultimate, and I doubt 5.0 will require more healing).

I have tried to keep my judgments on the healer changes to a minimum because I haven't had a chance to play any of them yet. As a Healer I 100% understand why healers want to heal, but this is not WoW, there is not enough damage output to warrant Healers to only heal all the time. Looking at the changes they've made, I will definitely say I'm a little concerned. They have essentially changed what makes each healer unique and homogenized them all to be "fill in healer slot" jobs. I understand wanting to make it so that all the healers are viable in all content... but by nerfing the hell out of them and making them all essentially the same job with different animations is not the way to do it. Ast and Sch were fine the way they wer, they had a sense of identity and were vastly different. All they needed to do was give Whm more utility instead of force feeding PURE HEAL down it's throat and it would have been fine. They have stripped any sense of Time Mage away from Ast and now it is a Whm with cards... Sch has 1 fairy now that's sole purpose is to push out heals while Sch is, you guessed it, healing. Whm now has even more heals than ever before, because not having enough healing power was it's problem this whole time apparently. I'm trying really hard not to be to judgmental, but this is seriously disheartening. I haven't played the new Ast yet but I already miss my Fortune Telling Time Mage.

I can totally understand that and people will feel disheartened especially with previous encounters with changes. I am just trying to pin my hopes that DPS and Tanks will needs us more than ever and we will be very busy and if this isn't true then I am not sure what we would expect.

If the DPS levels are supposed the the same in SHB as-is with SB then all healer classes will potentially need a lot of rethink and I like to think this was thought about.

That is what healers are already. Hence why people are upset dps rotations did not get any love in 5.0.... quite the opposite happened actually.
