    A question about ShB Summoner

    Heya, so I was looking at the tool tips for ShB Smn and unless I'm missing something, it looked like Smn will play like Brd in that we'll always either be in Trance or have a Demi summon out with only a few seconds of downtime between Phoenix and the next Dreadwrym Trance. Is this right or am I missing something not being shown on the tool tips?

    It's going to be more than a few seconds of downtime for Summoner. That may be why they opted to buff our filler spells with various traits and additional effects.

    I guess this is subject to change, but as of right now, entering Firebird Trance puts Dreadwyrm Trance on CD (60s).

    Oooo, ok, so DWT's cooldown doesn't start when you use it and instead starts when FBT is used, that makes a bit more sense now, would be weird to change egis and keep enkindle and stuff if we were to just gonna be having bahamut or phoenix the whole time during combat. Still, only a minute between Trance phases isn't so bad, especially since there seems to be no longer a need to delay bahamut to wait on aetherstacks. Though... still demand auras for Trances like Dragoon's get an aura for their blood/life of the dragon and War gets an aura when they have beast gauge um... beastial energy I guess one could call it. I know it's petty, but I can't find any other nitpicks now that all my issues with Smn will be gone soon lol.

    DWT/FBT is "one" skill with shared CD. So the CD starts when used. But after bahamut ends it changes to FBT while the CD continues unaffected. If you don't use bahamut, it will get off CD and still be a DWT.

    This is what you are going to do (for the sake of simplicity I won't add the energy drains, festers or egi assaults, just use them whenever available):

    Tridisaster -> DWT (tridisaster resets but you obviously don't do it a second time, you save it) -> ruin spam until DWT expires then deathflare -> Summon Bahamut -> Tridisaster when your dots expire which will be when Bahamut is 5 seconds away from leaving the battlefield -> back to ruin spam 25 seconds after Bahamut leaves which is what will take your dots from your last tridisaster expire and magically coincide with your Firebird trance, which is pretty convenient given FT resets tridisaster. From there Summon phoenix and tridisaster again. Dots will expire 10 seconds after Phoenix leaves the battlefield, leaving you no choice other than hardcasting them manually once here, then it all pieces together, because your DWT is back 40 seconds after Phoenix, so once DWT is ready, rinse and repeat. However, this sucks, because in your second bahamut you will no longer have tridisaster ready again when Bahamut is 5 seconds away from leaving the battlefield, so you are going to have to hardcast them here again until your next Tridisaster FT which will clip with your 15 second dots.

    1st cycle? Yay.
    2nd cycle? Have fun seeing the rotation force you to hardcast 2 dots that will clip with your next tridisaster by 15 seconds. Clunky mess. It's almost like SE tested SMN for the first minute and a half, then proceeded to assume everything pieced together afterwards also, which is not the case.

    The way the trances are exactly 60s seperated means you're forced to eventually align your dots with trances:
    (first 2m) -- > DWT tri-d -- hardcast -- tri-d FBT -- tri-d -- repeat (you might be able to flip the trances around, but the structure is the same)
    This will cause you to lose a tick due to having to alternate using tri-disaster before and after a trance (but is far better than hardcasting).
    To keep this working you have to be on point with your trance uses, you don't even want to delay it by a second. It's a very strict rotation.

    If the design stays as it is, it'll be a lot harder than the current version of summoner.
