tbf good and competent healers are a dying breed, granted whm's seem more rare than mostThe WHM playerbase has been gradually replaced with more and more bad players. No other way to put it. The class has attracted the most "I don't want to think" type of players who don't actually understand how healers work. They'll ignore facts, numbers and comparisons because it feels comfy for them. Obviously good WHM's exist too, those who like the aesthetic or idea behind it and hope for better days, or those who simply don't like AST and their team has a SCH/SGE. But thanks to how the class has been designed over the years, good, sensible and competent WHM's are a dying breed.

I'm a main WHM with legit triple legend kills and all savage downed.
When I play AST, compared to WHM, it has so many more powerful and less cumbersome tools that it almost feels like cheating. But still, I don't like the class as a whole (gameplay, lore etc...).
Even then, I've sticked to my whm because the ultimate and savage fights were still fun at that time and never made me feel like my class was an unwanted class.
But now, I'm about to moving to another class, maybe SGE or even not healing anymore because I'm tired of waiting in front of the EW state of general healer role, especially WHM
Progging savages as WHM was not fun at all, even painful at some time. Especially P3S and its macrocosmos meme mechanic and some other times in P4S when the game really feels like telling me that the WHM is a class that shouldn't exist anymore in high end stuff.
Enough about my not so interesting life.
The main point is, while I don't think all main WHMs feel the same way I do, I don't think I'm the only one either, so yes, good WHM are going to become rarer and rarer in the future if nothing is done.

Honestly this is true. The WHMs I've been running into lately have been bad–like really bad. I'm talking like they can't even keep up with healing a big pull (and no, the tank usually has good gear on). It's sad to play dps when I don't feel like healing to watch a WHM just stare at the boss waiting for the next raidwide and then never using Lilybell, Asylum or Assize. The one I love the most is the WHMs that use Cure 3 as a ST heal and go OOM even after I suggest that it's an AoE spell. The WHM playerbase has been gradually replaced with more and more bad players. This obsession with simplifying WHM to the point where people can actively turn off their brains is telling. When are the devs going to realize that simplifying healers has done nothing but drive the existing playerbase to leave out of frustration that their role has been turned to healers with zero depth.
The devs want more people to play healer? Then they should find someone that understands how healers are played in their game and realize that people want depth and evolving kits, not redundant abilities that get ignored. WHM is the worst offender as the devs think that WHM should be easy as in babying the player into bad habits with its barebone kit.
Had a White Mage in full classical gear absolutely be unable to keep me up in Vanaspati while I was running a leveling Roulette as a lvl 90 full geared Paladin.Honestly this is true. I would still heal if I could stand it, because I can't stand seeing stuff like this, but at this point I have quit the role entirely, and just cannot stand it anymore. They're going to outright ignore healer questions in the live letter, and if they do answer any questions, they will be their usual non answers, or dismissive statements that they had no idea this was an issue.
PSA to all SCHs and people hosting PFs, if I'm in the party as a sage, and we need another healer, please stay as SCH. There is nothing wrong with SGE/SCH comp and I would much rather have you than a WHM any day. WHM is easily my least favorite cohealer and I'm tired of getting in PFs.The WHM playerbase has been gradually replaced with more and more bad players. No other way to put it. Speaking of Healer design issues.
The Healer MP economy relying on abilities and piety actively ruins the early game of Conjurer. I had made a character on a OCE world to get that 15 day play time and during multiple solo duties I ran completely dry of MP because the gear has like no piety and you don't learn lucid till level 24. This probably fools new players into thinking they should be more conservative with MP and not spam Stone too much which actively teaches Healers the wrong behavior.
Piety & Healer MP economy needs a rework badly.
its well known SE doesn't care about anything below the newest 10 levels which is completely backwards. Kits should be front loaded in the game since more playtime is spent in the low level duties because od duty rouletteSpeaking of Healer design issues.

The entire level curve is important, not just the top part
and its funny what happens when stuff is removed that content that was balanced around said stuff becomes unbalanced :P its almost as if those early solo duties were designed so that healers could clear using cleric stance back then so the higher damage output would make it possible to clear without running out of mp
Couldn't agree more.PSA to all SCHs and people hosting PFs, if I'm in the party as a sage, and we need another healer, please stay as SCH. Dear PF, just roll with double "shield" healer, the comp is great! I occasionally meet godtier WHMs that barely heal yet always at the perfect moment for me so I never have to lose dps to healing but the absolute majority is stuck in ARR era and is happily Cure Iing their way through content from daily roulettes to savage. WHM is theoretically completely fine for the first savage turns but in practice, the player behind it completely ruins it by thinking occasionally remembering a dot exists and spending the rest of the time spamming every scratch to full with GCD heals and getting out dpsed by melee LB3 is the way to go.
WHM playerbase is living proof that making things too braindead ruins them and now we're stuck with peple that don't really play healer but since it's so comfy-braindead and you get instant invites and free carries, they keep chosing WHM for all types of content. It's popular because you can drool on your keyboard and still get things done and the players know that.
I'd play double SGE or SGE/ SCH any day over getting a WHM I don't know.
This fame generates so much money our money that I don’t see why they can’t have dedicated designers to jobs. There is really no reason why especially when the healer player base has been neglected for so long.
I had multiple WHM's doing almost no damage attempting Savage reclears as Sage this week. One literally ignored their entire oGCD kit, even Assize and just used Cure, Regen and Medica II. I've come to dread the sound of Medica II whenever I get a WHM co-heal.
