Hyur facial hair

Why is it we don't have the new hyur facial hair like the mc from thge trailer. It looks great compared to the others we have and would love to use it myself. Is anyone else dissapointed we might not be able to use this?

I assume it's part of the specific character model for that character (even if he otherwise looks like he's built in the character creator) simply because they haven't ever added any new options to the menu that includes beards and other individual features. Maybe they'll surprise us, but I would think they'd have made more of a fuss about it if they were adding new options to the old faces.

I also figure that even if they could add new options in general, they might not want to include new beards because of the way those elements toggle on and off. They seem to care more about reliably good-looking designs over deeper customisation, and might not like the possibility of people turning on both beards at once!

And I'm guessing it can't be done through hairstyles because those seem to be a fixed shape, but beards need to adjust along with the face settings that alter the position of the cheeks and chin.

So yeah. They might surprise us, but I don't think it's very likely. (I also don't think they should have made that design in the first place if they can't implement it, but with their overall approach to what they tell us about their character design choices, it doesn't seem improbable that they'd do it.)

Two Hyur faces have pretty decent facial hair and it's the more rugged looking faces. But sadly the MC of the trailer's face has very..uh "Just hitting puberty" stache in game, would be nice to add more facial hair options for them.

Edit: I'm pretty sure they were going to add the stubble to the game?

Huh, I thought they did, given how that hairstyle is now added for Midlander and Highlander.

The new hairstyle is present as a customisation option in the benchmark, so it's a safe bet that it'll be available with the expansion's launch.

The stubble, however, isn't a customisation option at the moment. Yet Yoshi-P recently spoke about it during a Q&A session. I can't recall which one, but perhaps someone else can dig it up if they happen to have it to hand.

We must not give up the push until we get it, though!

It is a brutal tease if you put a new face customization in the benchmark that nobody can access.
Pretty sure they "forgot" to add it or they will add it with another way (perhaps a wearable item like a helm?).
It's sad we can't have simple things as facial hair in this game.
Or eyebrows...........

It's also pretty dumb that you have to buy a Fantasia to even change the face style/ or even a simple thing like eye color on your character. But yes that beard looks so much better then the current Hyur beard wich looks super ugly imo.

It's logical though. The stuff you can change at the aesthetician is (with a few quirks) mostly "decorative" - hair, face paint and jewellery. While the things that require a Fantasia involve changing the character's actual body at a genetic level.

I did read that, unless it's a separate one. He said he was surprised people were even asking about it, and said something to the effect that "if it's in the trailer, I'm sure we can do it in game".

People have interpreted this as "of course he's just trolling and it's already programmed in", but what if that response is genuine? What if he simply assumed it's doable, without realising the technicalities?


I just think it's a dangerous thing at this point to assume ANYTHING is coming in the character creator unless we have a definite statement that it'll be there. It just sets up for disappointment and a whole load of "a friend of a friend told me that Yoshi-P promised! Where is it?!"
